Sticky stuff on the dash.

Featured Replies

The new car has 4 blobs on the dash where the previous owner has had something stuck on (like a dash cam maybe, or a phone holder). Whatever it was has been removed but it's left the sticky residue behind. What's the best way of cleaning this off? I've tried the simple stuff such as sticky tape on it and pulling off again, a rubber, and gentle sponging, but I think it's gonna need something stronger.

What can I use which isn't going to damage the dash? Skoda Octavia 3 with soft touch plastic stuff.

Cheers.

IPA would take it off I'm sure without damaging the finish.

Isopropyl alcohol

That's not going to affect the soft touch plastics is it?

I wouldn't have thought so, but maybe try on an inconspicuous area first.

Sticky residue is hard to remove, so an alcoholic solution would get it off no issues.

I'd try something like Bilt Hamber Surfex HD....many many uses at different dilutions. For the dash try a dilution of one part HD to ten parts water.

Try a test spot first in an inconspicuous part of the dash but you shouldn't have any problems. Similar use to remove the sticky tack in windows left behind by old tax disc holders or dealer stickers etc.

All the best

Apply heat with a hairdryer and try to peel it off.

Also using WD40 can help to get the residu of the glue off.

WD40 wont harm the dash.

Autoglym tar remover is good for removing sticky pads, although not tried on dash, could try on inconspicuous area first. Good luck
