Stripping LSP

Featured Replies

I've been looking at Chemical Guys Clean Slate for stripping LSPs to provide a fresh surface before applying a new or different type of LSP.

Anyone used said product or any alternative recommendations would be gratefully received.

Thanks and all the best for 2017!

The only sure fire way to remove a good lsp is abrasives I.E paint cleanser by machine. Dodo Juice lime prime is a good product for it, as is a light finishing polish.

Autobrite do a product called Wax off but I've never tried it.

I have AD wax off but prefer to use the paint cleanser route and/or farecla detox shampoo combo.

Please just dont make the same mistake as the old detailing "guru" we once had on here..... Fairy liquid doesnt work!!!  :giggle:  :giggle:  :giggle:

The Farecla shampoo is a good shout. I have a few bottles of that.

My usual routine is -

Foam, Farecla wash, tar, fallout, clay, paint cleanser/polish IPA wipe down & fresh lsp with all the necessary wash stages in between of course & it's never failed me.

Haha the old Fairy Liquid tale is the biggest nonsense I've ever heard.

A buddy of mine uses this

Also heard of people using white spirit!  :| to strip off LSP. (Don't think I would try that)

Other than that! I really could not offer any advice as regards stripping any LSP but this is something I will be doing hopefully by February time when I get to use my DA, I might just use carpro eraser method purely just for time & ease factor.

I tend to use the Farecla detox shampoo as well, but last time I also used wax off and to be fair it seemed to do what it says on the tin so to speak. after I washed it off there was absolutely no beading at all, the water just sat on the paint and to the touch it felt squeaky clean so I'm guessiing it worked.

Bang on advice above by all. Plenty of harsh chemicals out there, but once you have decontaminated, the only way you can be sure, for me, is to cleanse, preferably with an abrasive content too. Plenty of good cleansers out there.

If my memory serves...he advocated using a tiny amount of fairy along with the shampoo just to boost the suds.

Don't see anything wrong with that.

Fairy liquid DOES work to remove the LSP, it's just not a good idea as most washing up liquid contains a fair amount of salt.

Fairy liquid to remove lsp is the biggest detailing myth going.

The surfactants in the fairly liquid leave a thin layer of film over existing lsp which makes it look as though lsp has been removed.

It's been throughly covered and tested by many.

I did not know that! Nice one Karl.

A similar product to the EZ Reset from Angelwax, Ste. Stripped-Ease http://angelwax.co.uk/product/stripped-ease-wax-removal-system/

My choice is CarPro Reset for stripping waxes.

great product for really dirty cars and also great for ceramic coatings.

Smells very subtly of mint, good suds and great cleaning power

Just having a look around.... another sensible product option is now on the EZ website.

EZ RESET... not tried it personally; but no doubt a similar product to AD Wax-off.

Nice find Ste, great price n value for money given it can be diluted, thanks very much!!
