2001 Skoda Fabia Comfort Immobilised

Featured Replies

So I lost the transponder chip inside the key as I was messing about with it. Tried starting it and it started but cut off straight away. Tried starting it again and it tried to turn over but doesn't fire. If left for a few mins it will start but then cut off straight away.

I got my spare key and tried to start it (it does have a transponder chip in) and it won't start either, took the chip out and swapped it over, still won't start.

Does anybody have any ideas please?

Yep, go to your manual, make sure you have the long plastic part with the master key code bit. ( If I recall correctly the 4 digits ).

If not you're a bit screwed in terms of an easier job, I think there may be some other software that can be used ( commander?) to retrieve from the car.

You can use that with someone with vagcom / VCDS  and a transponder key ( ordered from Hickleys ) glued into the key and programmed involving the key being in the ignition.

Can't quite recall the full instruction but it should be on rosstech and someone here with the official software locally can help. The transponder itself it just a few quid normally.

Either way its going to need VCDS I'm sure I'm afraid, either to determine the immob fault or coding needed.

May also be worth turning the key around in the ignition if its been DIY'd as I've made my own key and found the chip responds better one way than another for some reason !

What is the easy way if I have the key code? or am I better off going to a locksmith who is able to code a new key

You can use VAGCOM/VCDS if you have the 4 digit code

If you look in the manual, you should also be able to start the car using that 4 digit code, I think it's listed as the emergency start procedure or something similar. It'll then be driveable provided you don't turn the ignition off for more than 5 minutes, at which point you'll need to enter the code again.
