Pd100 +pd130 Tdi

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me the difference's between them.{apart from the obvious 30 bhp;) }

Ta

Steve

I'll second this query, please.

And hence why the PD130 can be ripped up to 180BHP+, and the PD100 can't.

Jason, its enough to make me cry:D .

Steve

PD100 Superb :(

I'll be happy when mine is getting close to 150BHP with oodles of torque - It will put me at rest with my Fabia vRS desires... :D

What are you having done at Jabba ?.

Steve

Just a remap - don't know what result I'll get, but I'll be pleased with it no end I reckon. :D

From there, not sure where my car will be headed?

Apparently the differences between the 100 & 130 are many. (dont know what) - does the 100 even have a IC?

the 130 and 150 are almost the same apart from the 150 having a bigger IC and uprated (heavier) rods and pistons - alot of people who have driven the 150 say its nowhere near as refined as the 130 is. and performance advantages are marginal.

sorry it doesnt answer the question tho.

I had a quick look to see if the TDIClub has the answers but it will take more time to search that site than I currently have. I would thoroughly recommend that our diesel-owning members take a look at that site, however, since it really is a very good. This is the link:

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/links.php?s=&action=viewlink&linkid=331

Hmm - I'm going for the stronger engine internals theory on that basis. It would at least explain the slightly higher weight of the vRS compared to the PD100 TDI...?

(like Denis, I too have too little time to scan TDICLUB... Wouldn't know it from how often I come in here, but I have a 4" high pile of orders to process in front of me. :( )

i think matt used to be a member of TDICLUB but IIRC he is on holiday at the moment might be the ideal person to ask?

Neo , the IC is fitted on the passenger side{behind the bumper/inner wing}.

As im new to diesel power and ive been away for a while how far can these engines be taken? What outputs can be achieved without affecting reliability.

So many questions....im off to have a look at TDi club.

Steve

Steve.. IIRC you should be able to get circa 150bhp from a remap or 120-135 from a tuning box. without affecting reliability.

  • Author

Neo, that will do for a start but i want more.{200bhp +massive torque sounds nice.}

The Superb maybe the size of a barge but i fancy doing a few trackdays in it just for the laugh:D .

Steve

the 130 can usually reach 200bhp with remap+exhaust+airfilter

not sure about the 100/110

someone "allegedly" got 250 bhp from a old style vw diesel, but he spent several k on it.. bigger injectors n turbo etc.. he also had it in a stripped out golf mk2.. bet that flew!

also, ive seen vids of a Leon TDI 4 (4wheel drive) with 220bhp and a 80 bhp nitrous waste a ferrari 355 in a qtr mile! - it smoked like a biyach tho!.

I've driven the Golf 150PD and the 130PD and can confirm there's not much improvement in performance but the 130's much smoother.

For all the anoraks out there, the Golf 130PD does 50-70mph in 9.1 seconds, compared to 8.8 seconds in the Octy vRS - quite impressive !

Should this not be 7.8s for a standard Octavia vRS ?

IIRC the basic engine of the PD100 & PD130 are very similar.

Yes the 130 has uprated internals etc but the main reasons for the increase power are the larger injectors (not sure of the size difference) and a larger turbo (VNT 17 as opposed to VNT 15 on the PD 100)

You wont get much more than 150bhp from a PD 100.

My injectors are flowing at near maximum rate where peak power is being produced.

Maybe a more efficient IC and exhaust would see a bit more.

btw theres always nitrous oxide!

:D

Exhaust, eh? [rubbing hands together] - mod #2, post Jabba perhaps, although bloomin expensive one! :(

Offical figures for the Fabia are:

37-62 mph time using 5th gear/6th gear 11.5/18.7 seconds

49-74 mph time using 5th gear/6th gear 10.6/14.8 seconds

Can't seem to find this info the the Octy vRS

FabiaTDi ,

to get more fuel into the engine is it just a case of changing the injectors and then a remap? If so what could you expect?

As for N.O.S does anyone on here use it{diesel or petrol}.

Cheers

Steve

Steve,

with the older tech non-pd engines is was fairly easy to increase the injector size simply by changing the nozzles (e.g fitting the nozzles from 110 to the 90)

With the pd engines the nozzles are an integral part of the unit injector so you have to replace the whole thing and they aren't cheap! Even if you did this the engine might not take the extra power (gearbox and clutch definitely not)

Bang goes that idea.

I posted elseware about the gearchange on my'box , in 2nd 3rd+ 5th gears the lever snaps back in your hand when you let the clutch out.Is the same gearbox fitted to the PD130?

Mebbe. Got the info from Autocar, can't find the damn site now to check ! :(

Thread from the dead :D

My God Jason, I wonder If you ever realised you would take your car so far.

Its weird looking at these posts, here your talking about re-maps and exhausts  Now its more nitrous and big injectors that you talk about  My how things have changed ;)

Can it
