Service disaster at dealer

Featured Replies

all,

thought I'd share this story concerning my car & the dealer.....it went in for it's 2 year service/20k on wednesday the 18th of jan....ie a oil change for

They have been honest with you.

Accidents happen.

Im sure they will look after you sounds like they have been let down by a couple of daft staff.

I agree. They've admitted it, apologized and will fix it.

Just think how much worse it would be if they hadn't admitted that the damage was their fault!

true!

bought the car from them only a few months earlier, so I think I'll give them another chance when the car's due for it's next service....honesty is important in this day & age.....doesnt seem to happen too often.......

true, honesty counts a lot. bought the car from them so will give them another with the next service when it's due.

It would be nice if they give you a free service.... as part of some compensation

£300 for an an oil change !!!! Youre kidding!!!

That does sound steep! I was told by my local dealer that the 20K service was around £150

on 20k servicing its more than just an oil change.

I think that dealer has been fair enough, as has been said, although that servicing price does seem rather steep! I've just had a 40k service, that was £197. Oil filter, fuel filter, oil, that nice smelling windscreen wash and a host of checks . . . oh, and the stamp in the book to boost the resale value when I sell it in 18 months. :D

Thats our dealer and to this day not a problem from them... think urs must of been the 1 in 100 case. Glad to hear all been resolved though. Will have to have a look at prices im due my 20k from them soon and i dont want to be paying that thank you very much!!

I went to this garage prior to buying my vrs octy from drivethedeal, they didnt seam all that interested in selling me a car and would only give me a 500 quid discount!!! so got it 1500 sobs cheaper from drive. I know they have very little space for cars there and round the back where the workshop is is a nightmare so i am not surprised it got bumped, BUT at least they admitted fault!!!

Indeed they seem like a decent dealers, honesty above all is very important - unlike Saltdean Skoda (near Brighton) who after repeatedly having my car in for warranty work and always ordering the wrong parts or completely losing the order for warranty parts that I had personally been round the car with the parts manager with, then claiming to my face that it'd never happened, I hadn't been there and I must have imagined it :finger:

They managed to scrape the side of my car denting the back door and wheelarch and scraping down the side, which they denied and said "it was like that when you dropped it off" it most certainly wasn't like that, and as I pointed out to the service manager - " if you can find a single other dent, scratch, scrape or mark on the car i'll walk away" obviously they didn't. it was only when I pointed out that the paint that had been left on the side of the car matched the paint on the ramps the mechanics use to lift the cars up and that I was fully prepared to have the paint examined by an expert and bring about a private case against them that they agreed to repair the damage. it wasn't done satisfactorily though - they never replaced the clear sticker on the leading edge of the rear wheel arch (presumably there to stop stone chips) and also kerbed 2 of my alloys which they wont replace.

Suffice to say I will never buy a car from them again, nor use them for servicing etc or recomend them to any of the many passengers that comment on how nice the car is and where is the nearest dealer. I have a cab fleet of 130 vehicles so I think they could have done very nicely out of me had they been honest and treated me how I would treat my customers. still - their loss and Bexhill Skoda's gain!

You are not alone - to coin a phrase. See these threads:-

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia/43092-tailgate-rear-screen-shatter-fixed.html

Apart from a loose piece of glass that occasionally tinkles its way down the inside of the tailgate (will get fixed at March service) all seems OK a month or so later.:)

Like Richard they are my local dealer (though I do not use them). The sales team seem fine and parts are good (apart fromthe young guy his is useless).

Having said that, it's not the first time I've heard this happen there, whilst I've been in there to pick up some oil I over heard one of the guys say that a customer car had just been hit.

It happens everywhere though to be fair.

I had my 10k service at the main dealer, and I didn't like them in the fact that they "tried" to rip me off (telling me they wanted £25 to make the doors lock when I drive off, when I KNOW they have to have the laptop plugged in to check for fault codes, and it takes about 20 seconds to do the locks, as bryan demonstrated for me on the last meet [thanks]) and my bonnet needed adjusting because it was hard to shut, they did it, but under protest, saying it was a 'favor' and they should have charged me for it (balls, it should be under warrenty, my more slender lady pupils couldn't shut the bonnet!) ect ect, treating me like I know nothing!!

however ,that said, they did the job reletivey cheaply and well, and washed the car, but needless to say I didn't like their attitude! (Bickertons, Sheffield)

SO, when my next service came up recently (20,000 miles, but less than one year , let alone two, so not the big one) I went to JBS in Chesterfield, (I'd met Sarah at a meet before) they are more honest, and don't treat you like an ignorant idiot, they did the job on time, all good, and for less than £150, so it seems that unless I have a warrenty issue, I'll be going back to JBS......

Hi

Yes I remember you coming in.

Good job you had your coat!

If I remember right you didnt have much luck with the PS2 ;)

Or should I not have said that.

Yes that mini meet we had did turn out to be good for JBS I should have charged them.

Thank you for your kind words.

Sarah
