Octavia 1998 battery drain

Featured Replies

Hello

I have the octavia 1998 AEE with power- windows, mirrors and central locking.

The total drain I am having is around 320mA or 0,32A and after having pulled all the fuses and relays without a single drop in Amps, I pulled the drivers door card and disconnected the power- lock/window control module and the Amps dropped from 0,32A to 0,25A. Under the steering wheel I disconnected the big connector going into what I think is the Central convenience unit and the amps dropped ever so slightly to 0,23A I left the car for 20 mins and the amps dropped to 0,19A. Still to much. I have tried disconnecting the brake light switch, the power cable from the alternator and stereo, No difference in amps..

I ended it there as it was getting dark outside, but seeing as the power windows and central locking has been failing and is draining some of the battery I was wondering if there is some way to Completely disconnect all these "convenience" electronics? I have found what I believe to be the central convenience unit but it only has one big connector but the ones I've seen online have two big connectors? Are there maybe several "units" spread throughout the car?

I found this to http://pics.tdiclub.com/data/500/TSB_27_08_04_Matrix.pdf which has led me to believe that pulling fuses maybe isn't the best thing to do.

I am in no way an electronics expert and I am open for all sorts of input, all I have tried so far is just things I've read online. But if someone knows something that I don't please share! :)
