I was replacing the drivers side door lock on my Mk 1 Octavia. I had just removed the two securing screws to free up the old lock when I heard something clutter down inside the door, after a while fishing around inside the door I found this.(See Photo)
Does anyone know where it fits & is it important?

Looks like a C-clip for holding a lock cylinder in place...

Looks like 36E on this http://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/octavia/oct/2002-252/8/837-837000/  if so it's for holding the operating tang into the key barrel

I'd have guessed more the right one in 36A, as it's open-sided. Perhaps an aftermarket variant repair kit?
