Any Ideas? - DPF Problems

Featured Replies

Hi all

I'm sure this is a common topic:

I have a 2013 Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo 1.6d. During a recent drive we were presented with 3 warnings dash lights: DPF, Engine management and Emission control.

Its been into our local mechanic and they are unable to force a regeneration, even though the blockage percentage is under the higher limit. It is stuck in 'emergency mode'. We have tried changing the DPF pressure sensor and still no joy.

Has anyone got any ideas or is this a trip to Skoda and a hefty bill?

Thanks

Not been the harvenger of doom but sounds a lot like my car a year ago or so turned out to be the egr valve

Has your local mechanic got a full VAG diagnostic tool or just a basic code reader that only reads less than 100 codes rather than 10000+ ? You need a detailed fault code readout to find what has triggered this.

If not try and find a local independent that has the full kit because Skoda will want to charge up to £100 + VAT just for a diagnostic check.

A 2013 car ought to have the revised EGR but sadly failure is still a possibility. Has your coolant level dropped with no obvious leak as that is one sign of egr failure? The part + gaskets etc is around £350 and because so much dismantling is required to gain access the job time is 5-6 hours. While a bitter pill to swallow better at say £50/hr from an independent than £100ish from a dealer.

If 'In warranty' back to SKODA, out of warranty a lot of tuning places offer DPF Delete, and EGR blanking along with a remap.

This is exactly what I would have done under the circumstances  #nosmokenopoke

would have been good if the OP had said what the result was...

may i ask what mileage your car has and has it had the emissions fix? i have 2011 monte carlo, and its up for its final payment in dec, so these sort of stories seem to be coming out of the wood work quite alot and giving me doubts on whether to keep it, i hope your issue isn't too serious, and get a cheap fix.

I would recommend you just let it go and get something else.

yeah im actually furious at Vag group i big them up all the time, but what they have done is unforgivable, i was going to keep the car but this morning after reading some horror stories i don't think i can, annoyingly i have my car insurance renew in 01 nov, so im going to be down additional money there, bloody nightmare.

Sorry, never followed this up as we took the car back to Skoda and exchanged it for a new one. Never actually got to the bottom of the problem.

The car hadn’t even done 10k when we had the problem. On top of this the power steering pump failed on us about a week after the DPF issues.

Can’t say we were too impressed with Skoda and their support with the issues especially considering the age and mileage. Tried to make us pay them £1000 to repair but managed to get them to cover the bill.

sorry I can’t be anymore help
