Hello Everyone!

@Sebic98

Sorry for digging this up again. but did you try to swap the drl control modules ? did that help diagnose further ?

Ive got a an Octy mk3 with exact same issue of one side becoming dim and yellow while right one looks just fine.  wondering where to start from....

Thanks

Sorry but I am bringing up this thread🙈. I am having the error code (check daytime running light) after my car has been off for a while.  however when I turn the car off and on again the code disappears . And the lights seems to be working … unfortunately it’s the LHS

I haven’t actually seen the lights not working yet, I’ve turned off daytime running lights for now in the car … but they obviously come on with the lights . I am hoping it’s the module … I am feeling like this is a dealer job . I don’t have the patience to remove the bumper haha

Hi All

I thought I would post the solution to this problem. I got some silly answers from some, but nobody knew the answer to this common problem which is occuring with LED DRLs. I got the solution on the Audi forum as it uses the same unit.

It was not the DRLs that were at fault or the knock. There is a DRL control unit underneath the headlight which was the fault rather than the £400 headlight.

I managed to get the part 4GO 907 697 D on ebay for £45 brand new (from Latviua admittedly). Just put it in and the LEDs are fine. The attached photos show the cause.

I hope that this is of use to anyone who gets the same problem out of warranty.

RHS is a 5 minute job via the wheenl arch. LHS is bumper off so not as easy.

Happy to take any questions.

Garnett

Right is right, left is left 🤣

Just a small point.

If on a phone then people reading posts do not see where someone has a location.  Like a member from India posting.

Off Side or Near Side depends on if the vehicle is a Left hand drive or Right hand drive car.

Well I’m gunna go ahead and change the near side (rhd car) module it appears my drls are working fine but something just seems to be cutting them off at random times

if it was on the right I would have had a crack

probably a garage job because I don’t have the patience to remove the bumper lol 😂 also it can wait till winter I’m gunna ignore and keep my lights in the off position

Hey guys, I’ll update you I bought a new module off eBay… and alas it worked. Does look like it got some water inside … and it was the left. Didn’t need to fully take off the bumper, just get it away just enough to move the light out. £50 all in all.. better than going to a garage

Hi mate if the strip is still working then it’s gotta be the ballast controller. Which one did you swap? There are two the one you wanna change is on the bottom

also in this post use the same part number.

I would only recommend this one.. if you send the old one back and try this it’s gotta be that. LEDS don’t tend to break and the fact that it’s still working but just yellow is kinda odd to me
