Automatic light - sensitivity - how to adjust ?

Featured Replies

Fabia iii -  Auto Headlight's only coming on when it's quite dark.  Have been trying to adjust sensitivity but when I go to

Light › Press the  button, then tap on the function  → Light. ■ Light assistance -

the Light Assistance text is there but it is inactive and no options shown for

■ Switch-on time: - Sensitivity adjustment of the sensor for the automatic headlight control ■ Early - High sensibility ■ Medium - Medium sensibility ■ Late - Low sensibility ■ Automatic headlight control in rain - Activate/deactivate automatic headlight control in rain

Other light functions Daytime running lights etc are shown and work

Is there some 'trick' I am missing or is this a fault for the dealer to sort ?

Thanks in anticipation.

I could change all those options on my SEL so maybe best speak to the dealer

Do you have the standard auto lights or the combo sensor with auto wipers? IIRC the standard system, which uses a sensor on the top of the dashboard, can't be adjusted, while the sensor behind the mirror when you add the auto wipers can be.

I asked the same question quite a while ago

I've got the auto wipers option so that may be the difference

Thanks for the above replies.

Somewhat confused still - but rather than scramble my brains any further

will get dealer to look at it when it goes in for 1st service

I have the same problem, thought it was just me.

I started looking for other Skoda's whose lights had come on when mine hadn't,but of course they may have been doing it manually too!

I'll be interested to see the outcome of this thread.

Did you get this sorted out?

My infotainment system doesn't have the ability to allow light sensitivity adjustment for headlights coming on sooner.

RickW: - not sorted yet - first service in 6 weeks  - hopefully will get sorted then.

Thanks. My first service is on Wednesday this week so I 'll mention it myself, although if they try and charge for it they can forget it.

Mrs G's Fabia MkIII has Auto lights but not Auto Wipers therefor no option to alter the sensitivity for the lights to come on.

So my question is :-  The light sensitivity must have a value in the set up system for the lights with Auto wipers to get the function to alter from Early Medium or late. The 3 values might be say 02, 04 and 06. The sensor with out the auto wipers will have a fixed values say 04 (Medium Value )

Do you think it would be possible to Alter the Value to 02 ( Early Value ) so the lights could come on a little sooner using a VCDS or VCP

Does all that make sense ?

Yes makes sense to me.

Whether the people on the service desk will understand what I want is another matter.

I've actually spoken to the Technical team at Skoda Customer services and explained my Idea to them. They told me they cannot be altered by them or a dealer as its a saftey Item and could affect any Warranty, insurance issues because the saftey settings for the lights has been altered from the factory spec.  I totally agree with what they say but I argued the point that with the lights not coming on early enough was also a saftey Issue. I also asked whats the point of having Auto Lights if you have to turn the lights on yourself.

Guess it's a waste of time mentioning it to them then. Thanks for the update.

I think the Auto wiper option can be retro fitted into the mirror housing on the Windscreen. Needs coding in I think and then you should have the function in the light settings Early, Medium and Late. I think the wiring is present but not the sensor. I seem to remember a Briskodian actually doing it.

Found this, Ok not a Fabia but it might give you an idea
