Headlight bulbs

How often do you guys have to replace yours?

Just wondered as my driver side headlight blub has blown again. Second one in 18 months.

Unusual or is it just one of them things?

I've blown one in 2 years

Had to replace one last week (2nd in under a year). Replaced both and kept one as a spare at a cost of

Sorry for being a thick fool, but where can i get spare bulbs from? My friend told me there was a car bulb kit in a branch of Lidl for only a few quid, could i use these?

You could but like buying cheap house light bulbs they'll blow more often. Stick with a good make like Philips or Osram !

:)

Considering the complete PITB it is to swap bulbs, get good ones IMHO - and whilst you do you may as well get some extra bright ones or the more blue tinted ones or whichever you prefer, the difference is quite amazing for a relatively small outlay.

Even if they cost you 40 quid for the sake of argument, it's probably one of the cheapest passive safety improvements you can make for the car for night time and during less-than-optimal driving conditions :)

Thanks for the advice, good ones it is! But,once again, sorry for being a wasak, but can i use any type of bulbs, or does the Fabia VRS take special ones?

No more special than any other vehicle that's reasonably new.

There IS a difference between the Xenon & non-Xenon equipped bulb type however.

If you're ordering these things online you may want to consider changing your indicator bulbs for ones that don't look Orange when not lit, purely cosmetic but as you're already paying for delivery it may be worth considering :)

Just found the thread back that I was after, it lists the bulbs etc:

If it's a vibration related problem as opposed to electrical, PIAA do bulbs for motorcycles that are ruggedised or vibration proof, this may help.

Thanks for this!

Never ever had to change an Osram Silverstar bulb, so I always recommend them, although I'm sure you can't go wrong with either them or Philips :D

and I took that recommendation ;) it's one of them that has blown though :( it's just very weird it's the same side.

Check out Power Bulbs, quick delivery and you get free stuff :)

My Philips Vision Plus bulbs only lasted a year in my vRS. Both bulbs blew during particularly cold mornings. I guess that's because of the extra engine vibration during cold start up.

I'll try Osram Silverstars next and see how long they last!

Cheers for the link!

I've discovered (after the event) that the official Skoda Fabia spare bulb kit available at Skoda dealers gives you a complete set of bulbs MORE CHEAPLY than buying just the two headlight bulbs at Halfords...

Same thing just happened to me - second one in just over 18 months. This one (an Osram Silverstar) only lasted 3 months... Was very careful when putting them in so maybe I've just been unlucky.

This time I'm trying PowerBlue bulbs from www.powerbulbs.com

Haven't tested them on the road, but in the drive they let of a very white clear light, only time will tell if they last and perform well
