Sir Bradley Wiggins

Featured Replies

I caught a TV advert on Quest featuring the inspiring life story of Sir Bradley Wiggins. At the end  he got into a silver Mark 3 Skoda Combi. Current model and not a facelifted one.

Surprised and pleased at that.

Was it a Skoda advert?  They are paying him a few quid to boost the brand

He's the new celebrity face of the brand.

Skoda has a long history and strong connection with cycling competitions, they also used kodiaqs as support vehicles long before their official release.

It's a superb in the advert, they also use them as support vehicles.

I wanna be sponsored by Fred Perry and Skoda, lucky barstard.

A good Ambassador for the VW Group.

Both Sir Bradley and some VW's benefit from 'A fix' after approval from the governing authorities to get the required performance that meets testing.

Jonathan Browning the CEO of VW USA 2010-2013 is now the head of British Cycling, so that is all sorted now for any inquiries into wrong doing.

Knows nothing about anything being underhand or concerning cheating..

My mistake. What's the very quick way to ID the front end of a Superb v Octavia ?

Too quick live to see the headlight washers,  if that's  still the difference.

The triangular shape under the outside edge of the headlights on the Superb isn't there on an Octy.
Of course once the facelift arrives, if it's pig-ugly it's an Octavia.

Well Sir Brad is not going to be dropping off any ski jumps.   His 'Broken leg' looks to be a non serious fracture requiring neither cast or operation

just leaving the Celebratory Earner that is 'The Jump'.

The line of the bonnet on the Superb comes down to the hard chine at the side that goes all the way down the side of the car to join the front and rear lights.  Whereas on the Octavia the bonnet line is slightly above the chine.

Why is he a 'Sir' anyway. Why was he Knighted?

Ok, so he is a world class cyclist, but so were / are all of his team and a lot of other teams.

Has he done anything else, such as charity work or the likes? or was the recognition just for his cycling?

For the same reasons as Sir Chris Hoy

He plays guitar in a band and if you squint he sort of looks like Paul Weller used to.

Will Skoda just stick with their advertising campaign?, as obviously Sir Bradley Wiggins has never done wrong, and the VW Group are fine with ignoring

any suggesting of dodgy testing or practices.

George,

Hope the British Cycling Executives, didn't also impact on the previous Olympic Indoor Cycle Team - Hope the  Scottish Knight of the Realm doesn't get roped in with retrospective checks.

Lets hope the Amateurs the Professionals and the Professional Amateurs are not all in the same boat when it comes to doctors signing them to

be allowed medicines for their debilitating illnesses and injuries while in or out of the season.

While the highly professional team that supports their lives and training & competitions keep so poor records of the medication procured and supplied.

Amazes me how many top athletes profess to suffer from asthma.

Shane Sutton’s testimony outed Sky and their ethics.

Asthma comes in different forms

He is speaking very very sincerely in the interviews being aired.

I sincerely hope he was not involved in cheating in anyway, same with Chris Froome, but holy sh!t Team Sky and the riders are very very lax on record keeping when it comes to medicating it would appear, yet everything else is so controlled, recorded, oxygen intake, fluids, food, weight, in and out of training.

Even Non sports people with asthma or other possibly debilitating illness's know when they take orally, anally, or intravenously.

(well you hope you know when you have a wee ***** or a suppository, medicine or just caffeine..)

I used to think that but I heard one top athlete, who also suffers from it explaining that, asthma is a reaction / allergy to pollutants in your lungs. The more lung capacity you have, the more you're liable to have a reaction. It made sense to me. It may have been Jessica Ennis Hill, but don't quote me.

Handy that it can assist in weight loss & performance / recovery, but it does have the side effects obviously.

That Russian / American Tennis player was so very seriously affected that she needed the medication until banned,

and now she appears to be managing to play without that, maybe just some other form of medication that does not break the rules.
