Cruise Control

Featured Replies

Does anybody Know the going rate for getting cruise control "retro" fitted to a Fabia Vrs. I contacted my local dealer who quoted

I think it's quite tricky - when I asked about it on my PD100 (I believe it was an option), they refused point blank!

You need a new stalk, the loom needs changing and I seem to recall something other complication too?

I'd pay that for CC though!

Its easy enough, ive done a fair few.

Have a search about.

I've been looking into it aswell, There are a few sets on ebay at the mo, I was considering going for, come with instructions to fit and then you need to get it programmed by someone with vagcom, its wiring it into the brain is worrying me, I asked a VW specialist about doing it and he refused point blank saying it was too risky.. If I can find someone to fit it over here il go to them if its cheap enough, if its simple enough to wire into the brain il tackle it myself and get someone else to program it, therefore,

Lummox- You dont fancy elaborating on how complex the wiring is for a non Skodamastertec mechanic? lol :)

There is only one wire to connect to the engine ECU.

Rest goes to the central electrics ECU.

So is it simple enough for an amateur? Its just I cant find anyone over here willing to tackle it and im alright with a soldering iron, I've enquired before but am still none the wiser? Is it just a case of connecting a few wires and then getting someone with a vagcom to punch in a code to activate it?

ermmm

Signature - ;)

The manual in that link is for Golf/Bora - I have one here.

Brilliant, Thanks for the link, looks like im going to be ordering up some parts for next weekend :D

Read the info on Fabia-vrs web page. Not sure if it's something that I will attempt myself. Don't like the fact that you have to dismantle half your interior. Not sure that I have the finesse to complete the job without damaging anything!!! Thanks for all the other info. Will probably give STAR a bell and see if they can give me a price.

You may struggle for the loom, it depends on your dealer. VW have tried to restrict the supply of these.

As I have said on my web page only attempt this if you are completely confident.

We do these on the Fabia for £200.00 all in.

We have just had info through on how to do Ibiza`s too

Would you believe that these are different?

Oh well but the price includes OEM parts

I was highly unconfident doing this myself, so good ole' Big_K did mine. Was nice to finally have working Kruise, after 18 months without it, but still having the stalk.

I got my CC fitted at JBS last November. Its brilliant, completely functional and looks OE.

Got mine for £130 fitted, bought the parts myself. Took it to Maximum Impact in Leeds which deal with Skoda direct.

£50 for the parts. £80 fitting inc vat.

Do a search for the thread, I give the part numbers in my post.

Hope this helps.
