Yeti 2017 FL Drive 1.4TSI 92KW/125PK Questions

Featured Replies

Hi everybody,

This is my first post on this forum, but have been lurking for several years.

Great forum with lots of info.

I'm looking for some info about the Yeti (2017 FL Drive 1.4TSI 92KW/125PK), which I'm about to buy.

After reading about problems with 1.4 TSI engines and also about rust problems with the Yety I wonder if I should buy this car.

TSI engine problems

The problems with the TSI engine's seem to be related to those manufactured before 2014.

Are they all fixed or are there still issues?

Rust

The rust occurs at the doors (see yetiforum.de)

I do hope someone can shed a light on these matters.

Thanks,

I think that's a rare engine around here (1.4l/92kw), but it's one that I share here in Australia in a MY16 Yeti.

Most of the 1.4l engines here are of the 110kw variety I believe.

I've had my Yeti for about 10 months now and done 10,000km with no issues. What sort of issues have you been reading about?

Welcome to the forum.

The 1.4TSI engines you are reading about that had issues,

are totally different i would expect, even from the ones you are getting in Australia if that is where you are.

We always get the most powerful versions of a range eg the 'basic' 308 is the 130hp

We are in effect an American market

So why are there 1.4TSI 150ps / 110kw available in the UK /Europe.  or are there more powerful than that Yeti 1.4TSI available in Australia?

No George

But the last time I checked the Pug 308 series was different between markets in that we didn't get a lower powered version

We don't get the variety, so the version is usually the most powerful one.

Locals think small won't do the job

They are now available in Australia as a 4x4 model. But weren't available when I brought mine. The 1.4 110kw 4x4 model replaced the 1.4 92kw 2wd model in the local range.

i believe the 92kw was also sold in various European countries but never in the U.K.

Also, in Australia the only Yeti that had a manual option was the cheapest/entry level 1.2l model, everything else being DSG.

Too much Asian competition for a limited market to consider imports of lower powered European versions

I think it's a leftover mindset from the days when the V6/V8 models dominated the family sedan market here. Of course, that has been changing over time.

....and that as well.

Dealers out here have massive price (Thailand production) and range competition from our free(?) trade alignments.

You have to be a good dealer to survive also.

Yeah, that's true. Several Skoda dealerships have disappeared in Melb/Sydney. Some replaced in the area by another group, some not.

In Melbourne I know that the Zagame group no longer does Skoda Richmond. From what I've read Essendon Skoda took over.

And in Sydney Thomson Skoda replaced Trivett Skoda.

.....they'll have to adapt to the BEVs also and the reduced servicing profits.

I doubt if they are looking forward to them.

Thanks all for replying.

Meanwhile I've got info telling me that those issues occured only with the Yetis build between 2009 and 2013/2014.
So that's to me good news.

About the engine I'm talking about: It's a regular engine over here in West-Europe.
See http://www.skoda.nl/modellen/yeti/uitvoeringen/drive-outdoor/prijzen

Those will be Euro 5 Emissions engines then, 2009-2014,

no doubt VW have resolved all issues with later Euro 6 engines, but maybe we need to give it a year or 3 until we are sure.

Vorsprung Durch Technik type thing.

?

Where are you in West-Europe?

Hi Awayoffski,

I'm living in the Netherlands.
As often, rain and clouds are part of our daily life.

Where do you live?
