Skoda Superb 2.0tdi DPF (what does that mean)

Featured Replies

Just bought a Skoda Superb 2.0 tdi DPF (Black Edition)

Can anyone educate me as to what 'DPF' actually means?

Thanks

I would have suggested it could be a typo of the TDF/Tour De France edition; but the Black Edition is something separate, so that's unlikely

Possibly just a dealer, adding that the car has a diesel particulate filter into the name

DPF is a diesel particulate filter. Some early models didn't have one so dealers took to including it in the sales description of cars that did as far as I can tell.

Ok thanks for that.. probably explains the low emissions and the £30 road tax :)

Almost all diesels these days have a DPF (it's basically what stops them coughing out clouds of soot when you put your foot down), but £30 Road Tax for a 2.0 TDI seems incredibly cheap!

Blimey, I pay £145... unless that's £30 a month?
