List Of Problems

Featured Replies

Im planning on taking the vrs octavia into the dealers in a few days time to get some stuff checked out-anyone had the same problems?

1. Engine noise-when idling a random ticking noise can be heard which is really irritating. Im aware a few people have this and is the norm across vag 1.8t's, but would like some piece of mind and see what the dealer can do

2. Brake squeal-in the last few weeks sometimes when i slow down to a halt a squeal is heard. again very irritating.

3. Wiper smear-the drivers side wiper when working in the rain smears the water and does not clear the windscreen

4. Tracking-im sure the car is pulling to the left when i let go of the steering wheel.

1. not too sure

2. probably the pads vibrating a bit of copper slip should sort it

3. needs a new wiper blade

4. all VAG cars pull to the left slightly it depends how extreme it is if slight then nothing to worry about if more of a problem then the dealer should sort it

thanks for the info, but the wiper blade is only a few months old

they can go any time i am afraid if the dealer is sound then they may give you a new set

1. Yep mine does it as well, worse when hot, I believe its something to do with the injectors but not a problem

2. Check pads arenk knackered & give them a good work out to clear any glazing, otherwise Copper slip should do the trick

3. If you think the blades OK swap them over & the problem should swap sides. Also when you clean the screen remember to clean the blades as well

4. A lot of cars apear to pull left but the roads are cambered to the outside for rain run off which can cause this to happen. If it pulls badly on any particular road try driving back on the wrong side of the road WHEN ITS SAFE TO DO SO & it should tend to pull the other way

3. Have the same problem on the passenger side, but regularly cleaning the screen (de-greasing) it, so far, has helped put off the need to buy a new blade...

4. Mine pulls to the left markedly as well - I don't have to fight it, but it caused quite uneven tyre wear at my last change-over. I'm going to get the tracking checked when I get my next set of tyres on the front

4. Mine pulls slightly to the left - even allowing for road camber. From what everyone else says on here it seems to be a common feature !

JC

both my octy and my furbie did

Umm, mine doesn't??

Mine doesn't either, but if it did I would not be fobbed off with the statement that it is normal. If my car and Jon's too don't pull to the left, then neither should yours!

3. Make sure you degrease the wiper blade itself - all it takes is a bit of nasty grime to lodge in the wiper blade and it will smear for ages.

4. Have you checked taht your tyre pressures are all correct? Mine doesn't pull - just slightly veers with the road camber.

1) mine ticks and I'm pretty sure that's the way it is.

2) no squealing....maybe there's alot of brake dust or a small stone lodged between pad and disc.

3) standard wiper blades are crap....get some Bosch ones....big improvement.

4) mine does pull to the left.

I had same problem with wipers, and the rear wipers "chattered" over the glass, I threw it back at them, and they replaced all 3 wipers

they never managed to fix the other two problems though, simple enough jobs as well

drivers windows was squeeking in runner as it went up (not fixed)

front suspension squeeks when shutting door or going over a bump, but only when dry (suggests a dry rubber- but not fixed)

Still, one out of three aint bad I suppose, when I can be bothered, I will take it back to them

I find my fronts do this above certain speeds. Other than that, when they smear it's time to replace them or wash the car... :)
