Stop start driving has required a "smart" alternator, but are there any downsides to this,

will it work with your car/caravan software, will towing software be reinstalled after a service?

on mine - when towing Stop/Start is disabled so its always running

If the car has been correctly reprogrammed following the fitment of the towing electrics then, as said, StopStart is disabled when the towing socket is in use. It is another very good reason to ensure that the correct type of towing loom is used and the reprogramming is done, otherwise it could/will get VERY expensive!!
