2010 VRS CR Turbo

Featured Replies

I've owned a VRS 2.0 TDI CR for about 9 months and ever since owning it I've had issues with the turbo. Basically the car goes into limp mode under high load and from my own research on here, appears to be indicative of sticking turbo vanes.

I took it to the dealers who ran a diagnostic on it and stated the vanes were indeed sticking and then made up a figure to replace the turbo.

It's got to the point where I need to do something about it - so to that end, does anyone know where I can find the engine code in order to confirm the turbo I would need. I believe it's a borg Warner but would need to confirm.  Secondly, can anyone recommend a reputable independent around Manchester area that would be willing to take a look at it......and lastly......and you ideas on cost for a straight awap

I would try a turbo cleaner which you add to the fuel such archoil as a last resort, to if that helps before going for a turbo replacement.

Why dont you try getting the turbo cleaned first. If it is the vanes sticking try some cleaner on it or a company to clean it.

I've tried forte turbo cleaner and it made no difference. I've tried the Mr muscle cleaner too and that didn't work either - although I'm not certain I did it properly.

Does anyone know how difficult it is to remove the turbo.....if it's doable I'll take it off and strip and clean it myself.

Ours kept going into limp mode. Replaced the actuator on top of the turbo (there are videos on how to test - very easy) and it stopped limp mode.

We had underlying issues with the EGR that seem to have caused the DPF and turbo to carbon up so had to get the EGR and DPF cleaned and the turbo refurbished.

Check the EGR and test the actuator first.
