I may be selling the furby to a friend, due to someone going bust owing my company a lot of money, I need some cash to tide things over until outstanding bills are paid by creditors. Ok enough of that.......

If you had

Second-hand Octy vRS.

1998ish Honda Civic VTi. 160bhp, great fun to drive, well within your price range and meets all your criteria.

Very easy to get 40mpg with, as well built as any german car (plus a lot more fun) and will lose hardly anything over a year

Dare I say, Mk3 Mondeo in V6 or TDCI 130ps guise? :D

Chris

Chris, he said depreciation was an issue - your car has lost £10+ since I started typing this reply.

EDIT: I suppose your's works though.

Would agree with above - my choice would be used Mk 1 Octy RS or a Mondeo. :)

If you like the furby quite a lot, there seems to be a plethera of TDI PD100 Fabias about for sale. Seems you can now get a 51 plate with 40k/50k for 4.5k'ish.

944

You may struggle to get 35mpg though, especially if its an S2 ;)

Just for info I bought a 1983 944 (2.5 8v 165BHP) with 110,000 for £4750 in 1996 and sold it in 1998 (house purchase :( ) with 140,000 for £4250. Only cost was regular servicing, I would have another tomorrow.

My Octy vRS :D £5500

Yep, I agree, and with 74.1mpg too :D :D

Beeza Cupra 1.8T????? Fast, Fairly well Built, Bargain prices at mo, You can get the Old model VW Pi55rat at batgain prices too, since the new one has come out!!!!!!

If its only for a short time, why not just buy a much older car. For example 12 months ago I bought a P reg MK2 Mondeo 2.0 Ghia X with 138K miles on the clock for just over £1K. Now 12 months later, with 149K miles on the clock nothing has gone wrong or needed replacing. Value now is around £900ish, so a loss of just £200 in 12 months.

According to the onboard computer I am getting on average 37MPG from an auto.
