SHOCKS AND SPRINGS

Featured Replies

So I've recently bought a 07 plate fabia vrs mk1 and I love it only thing is that it's been lowered on yellow springs I'm guessing spax!!! It's not a huge drop maybe 25mm at most but the ride is SO hard and I'm not sure why could it be something to do with the shocks being stock or just **** springs ??? Ideally I want to go lower any way but not sure if springs are going to give the ride quality I'm after. Hopefully somebody can help with this conundrum

From what you've said I'd say you'll be better off changing both the springs and shocks. The most you'll get from a springs and shocks kit is around 25mm on the VRS so if you want to go lower you'll need to go for coilovers.

thanks mate any suggestions on coilovers dont really want to spend more then £500

springs/spring rates = stiffness

dampers/shocks = velocity governor...in other words dampers only control speed at which springs move...simply put, there is more fun to three way regulation on racing shocks

Both the AP and Vogtland kits are good options and well within your budget.

If you don't want to spend...keep stock springs and get Koni dampers. Best what money can buy in term of comfy sport ride. Rest is more tuner/racing oriented.

My Fabia HR II used to have Weitec...I recall seller telling me...they are soft compared to rest and go down only 20mm. I'm glad I listened to him. Even with Weitec, I scratched belly of the beast very often in mountains. You should really see my front axle carrier :-D In terms of Colin McRae style driving, they are almost as good as my rally suspension on latest Hilda HR I ;-) But, I guess you won't spend 2000€ on chassis/suspension upgrade.

What is most ignored part of system...BUSHING...especially Fabia has very poor suspension and with OEM bushes...they were damaged every 10k km...worn tires from both sides as roof. Of course, it is all down to driving style...

Mike and who do you think gives beginners more wisdom -  eExpert from Briskoda/other forums or un-popular/un-beloved individual with real results ;-)

As this guy, I came here long time ago and didn't learn anything. Few guys have knowledge there, rest are here for socialising and career growth.

As per your "normal road use" theory...well you don't need sport suspension then right? Best way to improve your driving skills is pimping wobly factory suspension ;-)

yet, you are AGAIN spamming with off-topic messages irrelevant to poor soul who asked simple question that was answered...as in previous posts.

If someone considers upgrades, he/she is considered spirited/performance driver...otherwise you are just tuner or *******  and don’t need any of those fancy upgrades.

Either help him/write your normal use philosophy or shut up and learn.

I always wonder why you people are so scared from hard facts, refuse to learn and always make every post about me...it looks like typical *** and *****§ behavior ;-)

it only confirms that there is always 80% of crap written for simple question and it becomes private crusade for most who feels offended that they don't know anything and refuse to learn...as there for example. If you disagree, just don't write anything and laugh that I'm idiot...nobody cares about your unrelated personal opinion as there AGAIN.

Post 6 has answered all what was asked...sadly there is always at least one idiot who is compelled to take it personally and blame others for his/her incompetence. We can go back to every thread I've contributed in and once fire was burning...it was just matter of increased fuelling ;-)

One wonders only WHY?
