Don't think this will polish out...

Featured Replies

So I came back to my car on Friday to see a large Spanish lorry trying to get through an impossibly tight gap, with my car at the front of it (think round peg, square hole)

Cutting a long story shot, the trailer hit the A Post, I swore a lot, but got nowhere because the Portuguese driver spoke not a word of English but eventually we exchanged details.

Insurance company have all the details but tell me it could be up to 6 months to get this all resolved, they are repairing the car though anyway.

Ouch! You have my deepest sympathy.  As sickening as it was to witness the event, at least you saw who did it rather than returning to fine that they had disappeared.

:angry::crying:

Ahh cr@p

How the heck did he do that without taking out the wing, door, mirror etc? :wondering:

How will they repair that, cut & weld, new windscreen etc??

I feel your pain :crying:

I would wonder if your insurance company will get it repaired as the structure is weakened on the A pillar so  in my opinion it should be a write off...?

^^^^ This.

That's at least a CAT-C write off.

Hope you have GAP insurance?

I doubt that it will be written off. That's a horror to look at but in real terms a skilled body builder will sort that quite easily. Provided the structure is not compromised. It looks only superficial from the photo.

I'd say that's more than likely to be repairable.

Screen out, bonnet and wing off. Doors off and drill off the spot welds on the outer sidemember. Replace, finish, paint and rebuild. You should have it back in 10 days, parts permitting.

They'll pull that out with one of those dent removal systems, then skim it and paint the pillar, and blend in.

There is a lot more pillar behind that, so its not affected the structural strength.

Hmmmmmm, I doubt that will pull out with the dent puller. I used to repair cars for Toyota at Burnaston and used the dent puller quite often, i doubt that there is enough metal thickness to repair that without turning the outer skin to tin foil thickness. I've seen that a few times before.

Not nice to see the repair go 'pop' when the paint repair lights get on it.

I would be interested to hear how they do repair this when it's been done.
