Fabia Monte Carlo Estate - Which Tyres?

Featured Replies

I have had my Monte for 3 years and decided to keep it - annoyingly at the last service both left hand tyres had sidewall damage noted on the inside, must have caught something on a pothole or a speedbump i think :crying:

The car has the factory Dunlops, the car always pulled to the left a bit, but it got better with mileage, and i recall and some results were yielded from the tyres being replaced under warranty by skoda.

So now i need to buy a new pair minimum, i wondered what Skoda recommended the swap to or what other forum users have had good response from? I remember Conti sport contacts of some sort or pirellis but can't find the thread from the time

Any help much appreciated!

Interesting, there's a place up the road from me that has 2 reduced to £62 each

ill look at the uni royals too

Skoda seemed to have fitted Pirelli P Zero Nero to "solve" the pulling to the left thing but they have mixed reviews from what I can tell

Whatever brand of tyre you choose consider 205/45/17 instead of the o/e 205/40/17.

A definite improvement in comfort & no loss of cornering ability, according to my wife, it's her car.

Kumho KU39 Ecsta LE Sport 205/45/17 on Monte.

Also use these Kumho's on my MX5 2 litre Sport

But that will change the rolling radius by 5% and send the speedo out...?

It will correct the speedo but not read over more likely, and not all 205/45 R 17 actually measure more than 205/40 R17's

Likely new Pirelli Zero Nero 205/40 R17 are taller than some 45 profile if you measure side by side.

I put 205/45 R17 Goodrides on last week that are just the same size as 40 profile tyres i have.

(They can be more comfortable as 215/40 R 17 can be, Brand / Compound / Sidewall dependent.)

These do not give a softer ride as tough sidewalls (XL / Extra Load) and no difference on the Speedo /GPS readings from 205/40 R17's

I'm running 215-40-17 nokian.. had used nokian winters for years and loved them. So decided to try their summers.. bl00dy spot on. As good if not better than the vredestein and goodyears for a much better price

I think I have picked up 2 contisport5 for £110 locally on a clearance deal, if they fall through though I'll look into 45s

Skoda replaced the Dunlops with Pirellis on customer cars that went back under warranty. Mine pulled to the left slightly but not enough for me to bother taking it back to the dealer. I replaced my Dunlops with Kumho Ecsta LE Sport KU39 and they're spot on, and the pulling to the left has gone.

Can i run V spec tyres instead of the factory W speed rating?

Yes.
