Blueflame exhaust problems?

If you want a loud exhaust they can certainly do that. However on turbo'd cars I've seen powerflow systems rob around 40bhp.

Which cars did this happen with? How do you know about these performance losses? Surely it would depend on what each individual customer asked for in terms of performance/sound etc. Sorry, just need as much info as possible before I go ahead, if your claim is substantiated then I'll definitely look elsewhere...

The car that lost 40bhp was a Golf 1.8T the brief was for a particular look but was always intended to be a performance exhaust. The powerloss was verified with numerous RR runs and was proven for sure once the powerflow was replaced with a Miltek and further RR runs done. I've also seen a 20bhp loss on a Mk3 Ibiza Cupra, again sorted by fitting a Miltek.

Also know of a civic that was stupid loud due to the poor quality silencers that powerflow use.

How much is a cat back from blueflame?

Around 250 mark to have it shipped over to me in NI, not sure how much fitting at a local garage would be, I haven't heard anything bad about our local Powerlow place, surely there wouldn't be a loss in performance if the correct piping was used? Unless it was some extreme design that the fella had come up with I don't understand how that Golf could lose 40bhp from the exhaust, something must have been done wrong for that to happen, am going to take a run down on Friday to have a chat, see what they reckon about the whole power loss thing...

The £250ish you quote to get the Blueflame shipped to you will not be a full cat back system, but just the back box.

The full cat back system to include downpipe, sport cat and back box is nearer to £475.

Top quality piece of kit, but as EddyH quite rightly says, the Miltek is also very good.

I have the turbo back Blueflame and cannot fault it.

EDIT:- Should have said £250 will only be the cat back, ie rear box.

Full "TURBO" back system, downpipe/sports cat and rear box is nearer £475

Getting old........................................................

The

Eddy I am having a senior moment, meant to say it as you have. The price of £250 quoted by Rob will only be cat back.

If he wants the "TURBO" back then it is £475.

I do indeed have the full "TURBO" back system.

Don't mock, old age comes to all of us...............................LOL

Every powerflow exhaust I've heard about has ruined the cars performance.

Not mine - on the old 200SX it made a big positive difference in performance - HOWEVER - the standard exhaust system on the 200, like the airbox, was deliberately restrictive as the car was originally pitched at the fleet market in the UK, so they put a quiet standard twin cat  system on that robbed the car of approx 20 bhp just to make it nice and quiet - so any aftermarket exhaust would probably have been an improvement...

Not mine......

I'd not heard about yours though! ;)

Well trip to Powerflow has been delayed due to the coil units packing up on Friday morning, having taken day off to go to see about exhaust as well!!! Should have the new coil packs put in and the car running on all four cylinders again by tonight, so maybe get going (exhaust-wise) this weekend!!!
