Blueflame exhaust problems?

Featured Replies

Can I just check who had problems with their Blueflame exhausts once they were fitted eg. exhaust not sitting correctly in bumper cutout, and if the work was done at Blueflame or exhaust bought from them via web and work done elsewhere? Am thinking of getting one but don't want to fork out for it and then find that it sits wonky, located in Northern Ireland so not able to have Blueflame fit it themselves...

It was me! the rear pipe kept kicking over at an angle, I took it back a couple of times to BF, the second time they put a 'tack' weld on the joint in front of the Rear axle as the clamp fitting was not really giving enough clamping force to hold it straight, the system has been perfect ever since, would advise that you get whoever fits it to do this and you won't have any problems.

Anyone else experienced diffs with theirs as if it is not a common problem then will go ahead and get one. Also, anyone got a wav file of the exhaust note?

mine sits wonky after ordering one and having it fitted else where... just sort of lived with it...

Rob,

Tried to send you a PM, but your box is full.

Please PM your e-mail address, and I will send you a couple of my Octy vRS with the complete system Blueflame fitted.

I had mine fitted at Blueflame and it sits dead straight.

Inbox should be sorted now, please try again, I'm still not convinced that anywhere apart from Blueflame themselves would be able to fit the exhaust correctly...

my blueflame exhaust sat very wonky ,got it fitted at jabba and they tried for ages trying to get it straight ,so when i got home i rang blue flame and they sent out a replacement and i got a local exhaust center on the job and it sat a bit better but still sat over one side so i went to a fabricater and he cut the exhaust bracket arm thingy and rewelded it in place and is now sitting dead center a lot of hassel but the quality besides that is excellant

I got a Supersprint system fitted on Saturday. Fits perfectly and looks bog standard :D :D

Whats the price difference for a Supersprint? I'm a tightwad so can't really afford to fork out too much...

Alright mate,

My Blue Flame sit's fine, never had a problem with it. I'm in Bangor NI if you are local and fancy a look at it.

Hows it goin Simon, did u get yours via Ebay? Blueflame definitely seems to be best value for money, but the hassles that some people have had is putting me off...

PS. any pics of your car?

No, i ordered mine direct from Blue Flame. There are some pictures of my car in the gallery somewhere. Just for either sdmegawuk or blue flame. Mines the black RS with WRC spoiler. Were in NI are you?

Cheers

I mean't search: sdmegawuk images in the gallery.

I'm up in Portrush but work in Belfast (Northbrook)

I've got a BF system, fitted by themselves on my 4x4 Estate.

They made it on site as the 4x4 is a tailor made job. I've got No Problems! at all. Perfect

I do, however, have a problem now!

The Lamba sensor (after the CAT) says the CAT is not working.

Don't let alarm bells ring in your department Rob as I've not contacted BF yet!

I'll do this in the morning & I expect BF will sort the problem out.

If not ,,,,,,,,,, you'll all hear about it.

EddyH, any news on the USA person?

I had my exhaust fitted at Blueflame and it sits perfectly

The exhausts are also very well priced - one of the guys I work with had to replace the catalytic converter on his Mini Cooper (horrible BMW abomination) which set him back

Well ,,,, I rang today (around lunchtime) and was told Nigel was at lunch. The lady who answered my call took my number and said he'd call me upon his return.

Guess what ,,,, NO CALL RECEIVED!

I'll be on the case again tomorrow ,,,,,,,,,, Watch this space. :(

I have got the Blue Flame exhaust fitted to my Fabia VRS. They fitted it for me and it is 100% in the center. I went for a 6"x4" oval pipe and it fills the cut out great.

Well worth it!!!!

It seems to me its the fitter in most instances as i have supersprint system although its by far the best system on the market it still rattled due to poor fitting which i have corrected by going elsewhere.

I would recomend s/sprint racing system, you'll pay slightly more but its well worth it in the end

I had a blueflame system custom made and fitted at their. I had a number of issues which were a check engine light, poor alignment and loose fitting between the downpipe and turbo.

The CEL was initially sorted by use of a spacer on the post cat lambda however I later had it sorted by Custom-Code who programmed out the post cat lambda sensor for me.

The alignment was sorted by JBS buy simply using a jubille clip on the mounting bracket.

The connection between the turbo and DP required a new gasket and new nuts as the gasket was burnt out and some of the nuts were missing.

I also previously had a forge badged blue flame system on my golf. It never fitted properly despite revised parts being sent to me which were fitted at my expense. Eventually forge gave me £100 credit as a good will gesture and I just put up with the poor alignment.

I would still buy another BF system as they represent good VFM but there are issues to be aware of.

Right then ,,,,, spoke with Nigel at BF today.

He said that the 100 cel CAT (I've got fitted) would definatly pass the emisions test at an MOT. He said he would supply a 200 cel Cat if I required, but it would effect the performance somewhat.

So I'll stay with the 100 item then!

No problems with Blueflame here.

The solution can be as EddyH says "spacer" or "programmed out".

One other solution (other than importing a spacer) may be to limit the amount of area the sensor uses to sence with i.e: blocking some of the holes in the Lambda. :holmes:

Told you that, but would you believe me ????????????????????????

Going to local Powerflow garage, they can do a custom tailored catback system for 250 squid, anyone had a powerflow exhaust on any current/previous cars?

Every powerflow exhaust I've heard about has ruined the cars performance.

The powerflow website has this section http://www.powerflowexhausts.net/technical.cfm, featuring a performance test against other exhaust makers (granted it was conducted by Revs magazine, and on a Saxo) but still. Really looking for an increase in exhaust note rather than performance gains, not to stupid levels but something more meaty, similar to how car sounds when its cold started, bit more of a rumble to it...
