Octavia MKIII Zinc Bubbles

Featured Replies

Hello,

And greetings from Finland. Sorry for the new topic, but i didn´t found nothing like that, and sorry for my bad english :)

Here in Finland, we have lot of cars with one or more zinc bubble.

Usually they are in front doors or in trunk lid.

Skoda importer usually says "those are stone chips" even though these also have been fixed in warranty.

Every dealer with whom i have talked to has acknowledged the problem but they can´t do nothing because importer says "stone chip"

Have you guys noticed that problem?

Zinc bubbles?  Can you reconsider the translation?  Zinc is a metal often used to prevent corrosion.

Yes, zinc bubbles.

Every octavia 3 body gets zinc "bath" before assembling and paintwork.

if there are impurities in the metal zinc detaches.

I've never seen that before (in sweden), what MY are affected in soumi?

Okay, but that discussion related to Yeti?

Here in Finland the fix is repainting the panel. I know 6 cars (in helsinki area) which already have painted one or more doors.

I also know that the same problem is for example in Estonia and in Sweden.

Few skoda dealers and few private "bodyshop" chiefs says so that must be galvanizing / painting problem. But importer says "stone chip, no warranty".

I have checked many used cars in resellers stock and every octavia has same disease.

i have also checked random cars (octavia) in supermarket parking area and almost every car has bubbles :)

Audi and Vw also have this disease but those fixed straight without any excuse.

The same old problem that VW and Audi has old the way back to late -90s.

Seen a lot of this in Norway, and several people has struggled to get it sorted out for free.

It looks like it has been a lot harder to get accept for many warranty issues after the diesel scandal at VW.

If the Dealership Warranty Managers or Bodyshop Managers are just experienced in Paint Refinishing and the VW Group way of dismissing Fundamental Manufacturing and Material Failings and Quality Control you need to Commission an 'Independent Experts Report' as would be required in a Civil Court and then see what SKODA CZ or the countries SKODA Importer has to say, and then have the correct repairs carried out and SKODA paying for the 'Independent Experts Report'.

They know at which factory / plant the faults were happening in the manufacturing process.

The Yeti link was just to show that the SKODA dismissal of their Major Manufacturing faults is the way they try to deal with customers with genuine faults.

VW Group 3 monkeys standard behaviour until Court actions and Experts evidence will be getting a public airing.

I had an issue with mine with water bubbles on the roof. The dealer arranged to have the roof re-painted under warranty.
