Alonso enters Indy 500

Good race - really enjoyed it.

Dixon has now 4 times finished 2nd under safety car. As the greatest current Indycar driver it does seem he and his team have a tactical blind spot. They needlessly let Sato pass whilst saving fuel and just couldn't get back to the front.

Alonso was nowhere, even though his young teammates were both fast enough to run near the front.

Chevys not as good as the Hondas.

Screens look interesting, thought the would distort vision like a lens.

They need to add laps if safety car is running on 199th lap IMO.

Sato will be a god in Japan after this.

  • Or that Pippa is a better driver than Fernando.

So you didn't wince at every 220mph+ overtaking manoeuvre into the turns in the first 450 miles then?   I know I did!   Monaco hasn't really excited me since watching Berger qualif

Err..... It’s 500 miles. Add 4 laps and call it the Indy 501.  Levi's could sponsor that one.

Then we could have the Le Mans 24 1/2 hour. ;)

NASCAR does extend the race under those circumstances, but most Indy teams at the 500 are going to run out of fuel if it goes to 201 or 202 laps.

Dixon reckoned that Sato would have run out of fuel if the race had not finished under yellow, interesting.

Lap is 2.5 miles at the Brickyard so 4 laps would be 510 miles.

Seemed to be a lot of laps under yellow this year, felt like about 100 miles worth so definitely feel cheated this year.

Loved the Corvette pace car, much nicer to look at than the BMWs and Mercs we get in F1, MotoGP etc, and only £47k retail.

Sign a US trade deal now and get GM to make some RHD ones.

It would be nice but there's never been a RHD Corvette so far in 65 years. Maybe it would be easier in this mid-engined one though.

I bet GM will look at how many RHD Mustangs have been shifted in UK, Australia and Asian markets before making a decision.

It's often been the case that the gamblers at the front have had to pit from lap 195 onwards and ended up nearly a lap behind the winner.
