Upgrading the stereo

Featured Replies

In the past I have done a lot of sound upgrades to my old cars, but I have never tried anything on newer cars.

How much work does it take to upgrade an existing Bolero to either Columbus or Amundsen? And how difficult is it to get acces to the standard speakers?

It's a 2015 Superb 2.0 125 kW 4x4.

Columbus upgrade takes 15 - 30 minutes or so, inc. coding the car to suit. If you're going for a DAB Columbus then a bit longer to fit the DAB aerial and run wires for it.

Speakers, I dunno. Never done anything with them.

I won't take the DAB version. What about the GPS antenna? Is that a problem?

GPS antenna would be simply a magnetic one fitted inside the dash somewhere. Simples.

Is there any difference in the models if it is from an american VW or something else? Or is a RNS510 always the same model?

American model won't work mate. Well, it won't work in the UK due to the radio frequencies being different. Iceland, I'm not so sure.

Ahh, didn't think of that. Iceland uses FM so a British one should work here as well right?

I'm fairly certain you'll use the same frequencies as here in England, so you should be okay.
