whats a cold air chip?

a cheap resistor mod from ebay, tricks the engine into adding more fuel and cold air

mine

after a few weeks and my induction kit fitted i got a engine warning light on, the fault code was a air/fuel problem, most likely due to the chip but it does make a difference. i got a propper remap now so dont need it but i wonder if i could put in in still for some extra bhp on race night?. it did make the car smoke a bit but since remap i have never seen any smoke :)

8.0 standard

Quality mate - liking the slo-mo wheelspin :P

Steve

8.0 standard

Something like that, i had a rough time of 8.5 on mine as std. Mate with a stopwatch

Steve

I got a video me doing a 0-100mph. It hits 60mph in 8.0seconds and 100mph in 21seconds (Clock readings...)

Chris

On a private road of course !!!

Nice wheels. 17" Catalunya's?

It is good to see them on someone else's car and looking nice!! I have them on mine but it is always difficult to tell whether they look nice on your own car.

Good Choice

It never stops to amaze me just how quick the vRS is. All I Can say is I reckon it probably takes my 1.4 8v the same time to get to around 60 as it would take a vRS to do about 100!!:P All I can imagine is how hard it pushes you into your seat

I wanna see how quick mine does 100. :(

I estimate 15 seconds. Hoping I'll reach that inside 0.25 mile. ;)

I estimate my new car maybe close to that too if all goes well tonight with SWMBO and the dealer tomorrow ;)

when is the best time to shift,4000rmp?or should i go to the red zone?

i trryied on mine and i had 7 sec but i stopped it on 100 kmh and thats 63miles so i would go on 0-60mph low than 7 sec.

couldn't get my 0-60 under 9 secs, maybe coz it's got the older gearbox?

I too find it difficult to get good 0-60 times, car is very fast between 30-70 (6.5 secs by GPS) and 50 70mph in 5th gear ( 4.1 secs by GPS) my car is not fast off the lights

Must be those bigger wheels, I've got the old gearbox, and I can hit 8.0~8.2 seconds everytime!

Chris

0-60 times are ok but we all bought the fabia for the mid range shove, Not many cars can beat the little diesel in the traffic grand prix on the way to work.

Old gearbox won't make any difference as it's only 6th gear that's different to the best of my (limited ;)) knowledge and I sure hope 0-60 isn't done in 6th :P

There are several problems with a diesel and 0-60:

1. You can't get the power down in 1st, but you've got to use it if you care about your clutch

2. Being careful you can put some power down in 2nd.

3. Then in 3rd you can plant it.

At this time a petrol will have taken off - first in a petrol may be short but it will drive away, hit the high revs and then stay in the high revs dropping into 2nd, probably hitting 60mph on a reasonable number of cars.

Also the driveshafts wouldnt like the full grunt in the lower gears I'm guessing;)
