Fabia vRS, wear indicators???

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm currently looking around for some uprated pads for the vRS and ever site I find shows the vRS pads to be fitted with a wear indicator (a lead comming off the pad). Now i've had the pads off mine and I know i doesn' have a wear indicator, so is the site wrong (EBC in this case)?

Does anyone elses have wear indicators??

Anyone bought EBC pads, did they come with wear indicators?

It hasn't got wear indicators for sure. Reason I know - we just replaced the brakes with 312mm upgraded ones that came with a wear indicator lead and there was nowhere to connect it to on the Furby, so it was cut off.

Just cut the wear indicator cable off.... no need for it!

:)

I believe the part is common across the VAG range and some of the cars using that size make use of the wear indicators. The Fabia does not, so as said above, just snip off the wire :D

Ok cool, i'll prolly get the EBC ones then, mainly because the black diamond ones on their site don't look like the standard pads.

Anyone happen to know the part code for fab vRS black diamond pads?

So no wear indicators on any fabia? Excellent, that'll save me a few quid. Have to do a full change this weekend!

apparently certain Ford Galaxy models have the same rear pads as the Fabia VRS , less than

Fabia doesn't have wear sensors as they don't run variable servicing.

Hi

I have never really been a fan of EBC green stuff

I have had them fitted to customers cars before at their request and they have ended up warping discs

They are as I have heard quite good with the dust , but that is it really

We have been using the Mintex Extreams with great results , and they are a good price at

That is strange - from a safety point of view if the brake light came up on the dash (mine has wear indicators) you would check the brakes and replace if that thin, however if you didnt then youd carry on until you / the garage went about checking them.

It is odd to exclude a safety feature like this... imagine buying tyres these days without the nodules so that you can quickly tell if they are near the limit.

They still have a safety feature, if the brake fluid drops down to a certian level then the light comes on.

But the Fabia has 10k service intervals so the servicer should be able to tell if the brakes will last to the next inspection.

Every car has the brake fluid min level warning light - without is crazy.

With regard to the servicing - you are of course assuming that every mechanic does his job properly... With TDi's today how do you know for sure that the oil is changed? It goes balck straight away - ditto oil filter unless you have marked it you'd never know.

Not checking the pads is another easy one too.
