New Orders lack of choice

Featured Replies

Ok so the new Yeti is not available for got know how long and I would like to replace my diesel yeti with a petrol model. The problem is you can't even get the 1.4 tsi now as l&k is no longer available. Skoda seems to offer a poor selection at the best of times only able to have 1.4 tsi with 4x4, so why when we are still far away for a new 1 have they reduced what you can buy. It seems as if they would rather loose the sales to other manufactures.

Glenn, not that this will be any consolation but all manufacturers demonstrate this approach on run-out models. At least the trim specs seem good value when compared to when all options were available.

Skoda launched the run out Drive models of the SE Outdoor and SEL Outdoor in January

Last day to Factory order a spec car was yesterday according to my dealer.

So an new orders will be on cars in system.

Skoda need to shut down the production line and retool for the next model - that takes months in a car plant as the lines are HUGE...

Hence the gap between 1 model and next unless a New Plant is opened to supply next model.

Seems a strange thing to do thought when no one has even seen the new model or have a dates for delivery

Yes - but like I said - unless they build a new plant for new capacity - their only option is this - unless the car is produced in multiple plants around the globe and they can do a phased run out and start up.

I assume the new Yeti could be built at one of the Sister Plants for the VW Tiguan in Germany or China or in probably Spain where Ateca is built (don't shoot me if the locations are wrong) if the car has the same floor plan as the Tiguan - but maybe the new Yeti is the smaller version used on the Q2? not the larger version on Tiguan or Larger still Q5 / Kodiak?

The Ateca is built in the Skoda factory at Kvasiny that also builds the Yeti and Superb.

Assuming the new Yeti is being built in same factory as an Ateca won't require much retooling.  The main differences will be rear panel and side window.  Most other parts are just variations of parts, which computer controlled lines can handle easily.

My guess is they will use the production line to stockpile some Ateca before the 3 week summer shutdown (mid July) and will be producing new Yeti when line is restarted early August.  If Yeti orders are shutting now, gives a few weeks to produce factory orders, and a bit longer to produce stock ones with whatever options they have in excess to use up the parts.

Whats left of the range is very limited, 2 spec levels, many engine/ gearbox choices already gone, third of colours already withdrawn.  I have been told that petrol versions are scarce at dealers, but not sure if this is correct.

The production line makes several different cars at the same time. You can see on YouTube yetis between either Superbs or Octavia. Presumably the assembly sits on a Yeti carrier and Yeti parts arrive as needed alongside.

Rumour has it that the new Yeti or whatever it is to be called debuts in mid May.

it makes sense to stop taking orders on the old model before the new one is revealed.

i would think the last Yeti will be built by Mid July.

Two months to convert the production line including the summer shutdown.

new car starts production say mid September to build up some supply for release later this year?
