Superchips remap for 1.4 TSi 140bhp - anyone had it done?

Featured Replies

I've only had my Octy 63 plate 1.4TSi 140bhp DSG hatchback for a few weeks and I love it! The engine's so torquey and nice to drive.

I was wondering whether anyone had ever had this engine remapped. Superchips (no particular reason to chose them other than it came up in a Google search) offer a remap for this engine, though I note they incorrectly describe it as ACT, which I'm pretty sure it doesn't have. You also have to search for it as a turbocharged petrol, you won't find it listed under twincharger (I presume they know it's supercharged and turbocharged).

I feel a bit guilty looking for more performance, when quite honestly it's quick enough most of the time but more would be nice. They quote for Stage 1: 184 BHP @ 5764 Rpm and 307 Nm @ 2562 Rpm. I thought the DSG box was only good for 300Nm, hence why the 150bhp diesel has the wet clutch 6 speed DSG gearbox instead of the dry clutch 7 speed DSG?14TSI140psCPTA.pdf

Would a remap seriously affect the reliability of the car? It only has 24K miles and I tend to keep my cars for 7-8 years (i.e. an additional 70-80K miles).

If you continue to drive it normally, you will have no issues (assuming this is respectable garage with serious background). Good map shouldn't destroy transmission.

Take care to warm up oil before pressing full throttle and treat your vehicle with respect. Even if you drive fast, you don't need to break a car, so it will last.

You do not have a 1.4TSI Twincharger, you have a 1.4TSI Turbo Engine,

but Superchips used to Remap those 1.4 TSI / TFSI Twinchargers & maybe still do, from 180ps/ 185ps Min to 204ps & more,

and these were fitted with the DQ200 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG (250Nm as VW say)

Remapped by APR, REVO, Superchips etc they might well have 320Nm.

You have to decide if you want to up the performance and by how much.

?

Has your DSG been in for the Service Campaign (World Wide Recall excluding Europe, not in the world...)

'34F7'.  Oil changed from Synthetic from Factory to Mineral & a Software update for the DSG !

Why the LOL? 1.4TSi is a turbo and supercharged engine. The Twincharger is Turbo and Supercharged engine. Superchips list the 1.4TSi under Turbo charged petrol which it isn't really, as it also has a supercharger.

LOL... :/

The 1.4TSi in your Octavia is not and never has been the twin charger engine.

You are are correct in saying there was a 1.4TSi that was both super and turbo charged but it isn't the engine you have. VW dropped a while ago now.

Euro 5 Emission 1.4TSI Twinchargers which the Octavia did not get.

Superchips were often seen to quote Remaps figures and they did the ECU's on VW Polo GTI's but never came up with Skoda CAVE 1.4TSI or even the CTHE

remaps. ECU issues.

Thanks, I did know it's not *THE* twincharger engine though AIUI the only difference is the belt driven cam instead of the chain driven used in the twincharger engine, though I could well be wrong, feel free to correct me if I am. I was just surprised they described it as a turbocharged petrol when it's more complex than that.

Thanks for the recall link and I tried used it but the Service Campaign doesn't apply to mine:

"Dear customer,
No relevant recall campaigns have been launched by ŠKODA for the entered VIN "

Perhaps it's been already done? The printed service record I received didn't indicate this.

You are wrong. Or just comparing apples and pears with the Turbo vs Turbo & Supercharger engines.

You do not have the water pump driven supercharger.

It is a 1.4TSI so a Turbo Petrol, like some 1.4TFSI.

then you get Dual Charged / Twncharger 1.4 TSI / TFSI, just not in a Octavia,

Beetles, Golfs, Alhambras, A1's, Ibizas, Fabias, Polos, Tiguans etc though.

As to the DSG Service campaign, call Skoda UK Customer Services or a main Dealer the VIN Checker is mince.

PS

Look in the spare tyre well for the sticker with '34F7' to show the service campaign as done.

Your cars DSG maybe already had Mineral Oil from the factory, but best check.

Ah.... Sincere apologies. I've labouring under the misapprehension that it was a type of twincharger but it is as others have quite rightly pointed nothing like that and turbo only.

Every day's a school day.

So basically regarding the remap, it's roll the dice and see what happens...? :)

Will do. Cheers for that. :)

APR is probably a better MAP, I'd normally suggest a tuning box to keep your warranty but, that doesn't apply in your case

You can get Tuning Boxes from many suppliers.

TMC or Bluespark have ones that have given good results with 1.4TSI's.

If Warranty Cover on engines is an issue then just leave standard and well serviced,

if you want to improve performance just pay out yourself if something goes wrong.

You need to inform your insurance be it a Tuning Box or remap so if applying for any Manufacturers Warranty Claims there is little point thinking removing a Tuning Box might not invalidate a Warranty.

DTUK tuning boxes are not traceable I know for sure HOWEVER, if you blow an engine/turbo don't be surprized if Skoda dig very deep.

They can see everything that has gone on previously hence, will come back saying the engine/turbo has operated outside of its design criteria & reject any warranty claim.

Depends on why your trying to keep your warranty together

Super chips/ blufin do come with a limited warranty. I've read through it and it's certainly better than none at all.

A Guarantee / Warranty on their work /parts, not protecting a Manufacturers or Aftermarket Warranty if there is an engine failure.

Likely you need to have that warranty declined and then a Superchips Dealer approve the work.

Paying for a diagnosis might still fall on the car owner.

See exclusions 'Wear & Tear of Components' or 'Modifications'

http://www.superchips.co.uk/s/warranty

http://www.superchips.co.uk/s/sfaq

They will sell you a Warranty.
