Does the light switch need to be in auto ? (if you have auto lights )

Hi i have auto lights but from ebay with the sensor and they are working fine. Do you think this may be the issue?

That would be the problem I would say. A stand alone aftermarket switch with sensor won't be integrated into any of the car's electronics modules so the car will not know if it is dark to activate ch / lh. 

Maybe search any supplemental coding with VCDS that can be done and perhaps then it will be like factory's (embedded) functionality and thus could handle the c/l home lightning..

Yes, but you'd need an original auto switch, an original light sensor and possibly an extra wire per other posts on here for adding auto light functionality.

I've added an auto light switch from ebay to my Octavia, I haven't done any programing on VCDS but it when in the auto position the lights are constantly on. This is what I wanted anyway but does this mean it needs coded? If I do code it in can I set the auto feature to continue working like this? And can I program the lights to come on when locking / unlocking the car?
