Yeah mods don't add value; if I ever sold the 106 (never would now) then I would split it to make the money back.. opposed to trying to sell as a whole. Like I said apart from the shell the car is no longer a 106 really.

I would like to go from scratch but it's the cost more than anything on a daily

So you didnt buy it?

You were the one who said it was a GTB2269 VKLR, yes it's a 2260 but you can fit a 69mm billet compressor wheel or use the unit from a Merc which comes with one as standard.   It is very unu

  • Sorry for the lack of replies. Correct the car did sell and not to me!    However i have bought a standard 2004 Fabia VRS in Black  well I say standard.. 24 hours after I bought it I already

  • I currently have a 106 GTi track car as a daily. Cage, Perspex windows, one wrap round corbeau revolution, did have paddle clutch in it, they are horrible your right but not something I'm not used to!

Just goes to show " there's a bum for every seat " this time it wasn't your bum on that seat

patience my friend is a virtue IF I was looking at the type of car you want I'd search this type of forum day in day out to find a car from a like minded seller not someone who spies a quick buck by flipping a car quickly, I'd want the sellers name on the log book long term ownership receipts for all, preferably long term, mods and the car plus seller would have to ' feel right ' even if the car was bog standard these are the ones I'd be looking for

Well it definitely wasn't my bum as it wasn't me who was looking for a car.

Ahh, yes indeed I stand corrected ( apologies to both you and JaamesVRS )

I think that's what's know in the trade as a fopar ( well it begins with an F anyway )

However i have bought a standard 2004 Fabia VRS in Black :) well I say standard.. 24 hours after I bought it I already whipped an S2000 Filter on it and bought an exhaust system + decat. I'm glad I bought a standard example now as it reminded me how much I enjoy making a car my own and not someone else's... today I found out how much of a bastid the downpipe bolts are from the turbo and how hard it is to remove standard system!

I hope so too... 130k on the clock, only MOT failures was silly items such as tyres low, bulbs out etc ... advisorys never apparent on next mot so imagine would of been replaced. FSH upto 2016 all from skoda, receipts from garages etc, 3rd owner from new, first owner had the car for 11 years.. couple of little odds and sods, firstly the lacquer peel on spoiler, not an issue, 2nd scuff on front bumper that I will get sorted and thirdly the drivers side window doesn't go up nor down, motor makes a sort of grinding noise but window doesn't move

however i I only paid 1200 for the car so happy days

That's more like it, window regulator cable is snapped, not a pleasant job but not hard.

Seems to be kind of common on the Fabias? My friends fabia done the same however his luckily come off the runners. Is there a way to check? Or is the noise I'm explaining the regulator? Haven't taken the Door card off yet to inspect, the window (as I only noticed today) has actually been siliconed in place! Very nearly as didn't notice it when viewing the car or from the outside, can only be noticed inside (can see the bead of silicone)

so so maybe it has come off the runners and the silicone is holding the window up?

The cable has snapped and the silicon is holding the window up.

Okay cool! Regulators aren't expensive then! Time to get the tools out with this heat I like having the window open and I can't! Like being in the race car all over again :blush

You can either get a regulator repair kit or you can get the whole ancillaries carrier with regulator pre-assembled on it. If you get the carrier you will have to swap your door speaker to the new one. They are pop riveted on. Part number for the rivets is N90765701

Example, repair kit...

I imagine the whole lot is a hell of a lot easier? Can get it for 29 quid!

Yes it's easier

I bought a repair kit for about £10 and it took a couple of hours from start to finish. I honestly didn't think it was that hard a job, the worst part was getting the cables in place, you need two people to do that bit to make life easier.

After reading through the thread I'm relieved you bought that one! Seems like you got a steal! Has it had turbo replaced? DMF recently etc?

So am I tbh! Seems like a gem! Not as far as I know, the previous buyer had no history of those things being done however the turbo has no play at all, no smoke and pulls like a train, clutch is very sharp too seems like a gem! Hopefully they have been replaced! The cambelt has been replaced too at 111k!
