Hi guys I have just drove through a large puddle and my engine light came in and started flashing. I turned engine off tried to drive again and car was spluttering sounded rough so thought I could blow the water out so took it round the block but struggled to accelerate. Is the engine knackered or will it dry out

Welcome to Briskoda, what actual Octavia do you have?, petrol or diesel, mk1, 2 or 3?.

It's a 2001 petrol but has a new engine was put in 4 years ago

Is this a vrs petrol or one of the other models?. Does it have a cold air inlet fitted?.

It's a standard 2.0 mate other than that I'm unsure

Sounds like you may have drowned out 1 or 2 coils if you are lucky.

If it is that they should eventually dry out enough to clear the misfire, if not, there is a possibility that some of the water may have been sucked into the engine.

If that is the case, it is difficult to tell the severity without actually being in front of the car to advise you further.

Leave it overnight, you may get lucky and it will dry itself out.

Cheers for the advice mate just been out to it the misfire seems to have gone just a few flat stops when you accelerate and light has stayed on but doesn't flash anymore
