You need to check the spring loaded fuel pickup has not been misfitted. It is spring loaded to ensure that it always draws fuel from the lowest part of the tank. If compromised in some was then it may not pick up fuel correctly when the level drops.

 

 

Im going to have a look at this method/solution too as its a pain when it cuts out.
