Quick question please.

My 1.2 TSi 110 hp Fabia DSG revs at just under 1000 hot or cold.

I know it is not a slow revving diesel but it is a bit frantic and over excited to my mind.

Or is it normal?

Not quite correct, the tick over is couple of hundred revs higher when cold until it has warmed up. I think it's to get the exhaust catalyst upto efficient temperature asap.  This is normal on EU6 emissions engines.

 

It then drops back to about 800 revs at idle. 

 

If the the climate control needs lots of cabin cooling the engine might run bit faster for a while.

'Approx'.... 45 seconds @ 1,100 rpm, before dropping with the 1.2tsi on a cold start up in the not too cold UK even in winter.

Right--that's it then. Off to the dealers.  I've checked my tick over now for three days and cold or hot it revs at a tad under 1000 with or without aircon.  From what you say this ain't right.  Thanks

Is that the lowest it ever goes anytime with the rpm,

when car is up to temp after a few miles even, both coolant and oil, no fan or lights on other than DRL's.

 

How many miles has the car done from new?

Mine sits around 750rpm (aircon not on) - 1.2Tsi 66kw, 5 speed manual.

200 miles from new...

 

Give it a chance.

Are all the fluid levels correct, oil, coolant etc?

As long as that's all ok, stop worrying and get on and drive it.

They can't adjust the idle speed anyway, it's all computer controlled.

Completely normal. Mine is around 800 - 900 when warm, I had a fiesta that was around 1100 when warm, i was surprised tbh when I got my Fabia and it was revving under 1000.
