quake 4 problem

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have just installed quake 4 on my PC, it all installed ok but when I came to load it up the screen goes black then it just goes back to the desktop.

I have tried uninstalling quake, then uninstalling zone alarm then reinstalling quake but it still doesn't work

can anyone offer any suggestions

my PC is an AMD sempron 2800+ and i have an ATI rage graphics card

????????????????????

It's a gpu hungry beast, what model of ATI card is it? which gpu? Are you running the latest catalyst drivers from ATI?

you can get a ton of help over on www.rage3d.net in the forums (ATI "partner" site), they have a game specific tech help forum.

Where do I find out which model my ATI card is?

What is it listed as in device manager or the display properties m8?

I think during start up Quake 4 tries to connect to the internet. If you havent, you need to specify in zone alarm wether it can access the internet or not. I forgot to do this initially and it will just stop, waiting for a response to a window you cant see!

Actually you mentioned an ATI RAGE card. I'm afraid this chipset is too old to run any decent games nowadays. The card needs to be a Direct X 9 compatible card. The card needs to be a Radeon class card a 9000 series card or an X series card.
