the under bonnet insulation is around £18 from a dealer so this piece might be a little lower in price and worth replacing!

i am thinking along those lines...saves a lash up...and perhaps cut down on the injector noise

i think this may be a good step as it probably needs to be complete to insulate the noise from the injectors

the polystyrene one...which i have...hmmm...i do think that could have been for a petrol model since there is so much insulation in other places

the bonnet and around the engine top...just under the plastic cover

i will photograph this late and query what is there just to check items havent been left off there as well

cheers

The plastic lugs or rim clips just pop back, the other plastic ring kinda comes off with the filter. I think you'll get a new one with some brands of filter. It is basically a guide to locate the filter in the correct position for ease of fitment. The filter then just lifts out, if you have disconnected the pipes.

Just as an aside, Haynes have released a manual for the Fabia 2, which is really helpful. the book number is 6033 and covers from may 2007 to 2014 (07 to 64 reg) Petrol and diesel.  ISBN number 978 1 78521 033 4. There are some models it doesn't cater for but they are usually unusual versions.

Hi chaps...the filters came today

the service record on this vehicle has some gaps

most prominent are the fuel filter and pollen filter

its been 40K since the air filter was changed...?

the present mileage is just short of 80k

thanks to the contributors i had no problems locating the items and avoiding any problems fitting.

here are the bad guys..the engine air and cabin air filters...some dirt there

cheers

Maybe too late or not relevant in this case, but when I buy Haynes manuals, I tend to check up their selling direct price first as they tend to have money off now and again, worked for me with the past two manuals I bought at separate times.

Edit:- I suppose I should check the pollen filter on my 2011 S4 as I'm now servicing it myself, need to see if it is the carbon coated version first and if it just needs a good thrashing off the top of the dust bin followed by a good reverse vac'ng - or maybe Audi lied when they said they changed it a couple of years ago! I used to buy carbon coated pollen filters from a British manufacturer - though it looks like their website is down so probably means they have given up trading, in which case its a ECP purchase when discount is "good"!

When in doubt!!

The cabin filter I bought is not carbon and cost around £7 from Mick's Garage.

For that money I will change it more often.

That is a very wise, old skool tip!

I usually compare prices from eurocarparts and car parts4less and then search for codes. Always cheaper then buying from shop or online without code. They deliver for free too if you don't have one locally! I tend now to buy Bosch filters and brake pads/discs.

Also, you can SEE the shi-ster in those filters but not in the fuel filter... Think about that if you have not changed it in years. They are only around £10-£15
