Upgrade steering wheel

Featured Replies

Hi all,

i have just bought a 2013 Mk3 Octavia SE estate with DSG gearbox, overall I am very happy with it but there are a couple of things that I would have liked to have on the car but didn't think about too much before I bought it.

Top priority is steering wheel controls, I have the standard 4 spoke steering wheel without any controls, phone and stereo control is a must but gear padles would be a bonus.

I have found a kit http://www.cars-equipment.com/www/en/shop/multifunction-switches-buttons-6/oem-multifuntion-switches-retrofit-upgrade-for/ which would appear to have everything I need to upgrade.

Having read a couple of threads however it is not clear if the DSG models have the control module or not.

The same website has a 3 spoke steering wheel with DSG shift for not much extra http://www.cars-equipment.com/www/en/shop/three-spoke-steering-wheels-2/oem-5e0419091af-cwe-multifunction-steering-wheel/

Is there an easy way to check what gateway the car has?

is it as simple as changing the wheel or adding the buttons and wiring or is there coding needed? If there is coding how easy is this to do?

The other desire is cruise control, is this something I should consider doing at the same time? Is there any other controllers or gateway required for the cruise or is it the same module?

Thanks

Sounds very expensive but, I don't know the full extents of the cost, be very helpful if you could get a VCDS member to help you out.
