Autoglym paint protection

Featured Replies

I am getting a new car in September and have been offered Autoglym to protect the paintwork, upholstery and glass for £299. Is it worth it or are there other products that are better?

Short answer is no, send it to a detailer instead

The answer is obviously no. Can anyone recommend a detailer in the Stockport /Macclesfield  area?

Please don't accept the dealers offer of Lifeshine...very much a last generation co-polymer sealant which even if applied to properly prepared surfaces (it won't be) you may see 3-4months protection from the paint sealant.

The dealer valeter may get an hour, two if they are lucky to prepare your car from start to finish - a good detailer will just about be able to wash & decon your car in that time, spending the rest of the day ensuring every surface is prepared correctly prior to applying a proper paint coating along the lines of Gtechniq.

Pop your postcode in the following link to find your nearest Gtechniq detailer -

I know a detailer in Oldham, Manchester

No as the others have said. Never had Lifeshine done myself, because I enjoy cleaning our cars. It may not be up to professional standards, but it is good enough for me and best in our little road if I say so myself. I use a mixture of Autofinesse, Autoglym and Valetpro.

In OLDHAM....where then ?  Thanks.

I've learnt the hard way that lifeshine or any other dealer product is worthless. If I ever bought a new car I'd ask them to leave all the transit protection on and send it to my local detailer. I can personally vouch for Gtechniq Crystal serum, it's a great product that when topped with C2 makes washing a much easier and safer experience.
