Skoda OneApp - One app to rule them all

Featured Replies

Also getting message "Connect to your car via wifi or USB" when it´s already connected via usb/carplay. Tried everything to get it working on MY17 Superb with Bolero Infotainment.
Sent email to Skoda and mentioned that it should work on all cars built after week 22 2016 and the answer was "contact dealer and upgrade software to version 0357".
Anyone here got it working on Bolero/Carplay?

I set up Skoda connect on my Columbus and paired it with my Android phone but I'm getting a couple of small problems.

The Skoda one app on my phone has only recorded zero values for my last trip (first with the system set up) and it doesn't show me the last parked position or other vehicle statuses that I wanted to use the app for.

Do I need to install the separate Skoda Connect app to get the vehicle statuses on my phone, or does Skoda one app do what it says on the tin?

I have both apps on my iOS device and both offer different functionality. The Skoda Connect offers parked location, status in terms of locked or not, Flash or Flash and Horn and you can send destinations to your infotainment system. The OneApp appears more performance orientated such as max rpm, speed, etc during a journey, I believe it only works over usb (on iOS at least) and you need a good quality cable to avoid connect/disconnect issues.

Thanks @MaddicIrl.

I'll install Skoda Connect and see how I get on with that, it was the parked location and the locked status that I really wanted.

Morning all, Does the Škoda one app just appear when connected to Apple Car Play? I've downloaded it on to my phone and it works when connected via USB, but doesn't appear on the Car Play screen. I have a 2016 SEL with Columbus . Any ideas?

It should just appear. Could be on the next page of apps, on mine I have more than 8 icons (because of the  now playing and return to skoda icons). The non- Apple apps will appear on the next page. Swipe left and right to move between pages.

You can re-order the app icons on the iPhone in the car play / Skoda screen, it shows the screens as you would see them on the infotainment. Just hold and drag the icons to re-position where you want them.

I have moved Spotify and One App onto the main screen

It doesn't appear in the infotainment screen on my Superb L&K 2016(April) but I had a test drive in a new Superb recently to try out the DSG gearbox and the OneApp did appear in the screen in that car. It had the same Columbus unit as mine but I guess it must have had newer firmware.

I have an iPhone 6 and the app doesn't appear in the carplay screen at all

You would think it would be the same for everyone. But it seems there are so many variations. Frustrating!

The Skoda Connect app works fine for me using an Android phone and a 9.2" Columbus.

The Skoda One App is a different matter, it only works occasionally and often only takes data for the first 8-10 minutes of a journey. Any ideas?

Just out of interest, how does this work when you have different drivers? I would imagine I will plug my phone in every time I drive our new Octavia, but I suspect my wife almost certainly won't (and even if she does I doubt she'd use the app). Will this only record data when my phone is plugged in, or will the car store data from my wife's drives until the next time I plug in ?

Do you suspect your wife is up to something? ;)

I've had it working from the beginning (OneApp) but occasionally the first couple of minutes of the trip doesn't get recorded or the middle of the trip drops out. Possibly cable related. New cable and so far so good. Just takes a minute or two to start Smartlink and the real time widgets start registering live data within another minute or two.

As far as I can see, all drive data is logged and downloaded onto the OneApp database whenever the USB connection is made with the phone having the app. You can designate each drive as 'business' or 'private' after the fact on the app itself.

What I'd like to know is how can I access the data online or have it downloaded onto a computer for printing or converting to a readable format for accounting purposes? Has anyone been able to export the data from OneApp?

Not at all, she's just a technophobe & not interested in data. I, on the other hand, am entirely the opposite!

Can OneApp be used at the same time as Waze or iPlayer radio? I have a company supplied Android phone, a Samsung something or other, and have used OneApp a few times but gave up when it stopped collecting data. I recently started using Waze for traffic congestion notification. That particular app isn’t very reliable though.

Shouldn't be a problem for CarPlay to multitask - I have mine playing music from the Music App whilst showing me live car data on the OneApp widget. The switching between apps is one touch away with the icons on the right hand side of the screen (Australian version).

my OneApp is always logging/recording my drives in the background, i.e. i do not launch the app, nor do i have my phone connected via usb cable.

it somehow knows i'm connected, via bluetooth, and starts logging.

Tried this out for the first time today. Took a while to get my Samsung connected to my Amundsen. My main issue is that it it told me I couldn't use the app in motion so I can only use it while parked up.

Also would be good if it started logging when I plug in the usb. At the moment I need to turn it on either through starting the app on my phone or selecting mirrorlink on the Amundsen.

Also, people are saying they have it working in Carplay. What about Android Auto? Nothing is showing up in it for me, I have to start it through mirrorlink which shuts off Android Auto.

Skoda OneApp is a MirrorLink app, not an Android Auto app.

Still trying to figure this out.  If the car has a wifi connection, will the data be recorded?  I've added an app called "Auto Wifi Tethering" to my android phone (S7 Edge).  When the app detects a connection to the car bluetooth, it enabled my phones wifi hotspot that the car then connects to.  Should this work?

Now that I think of it I must have been connected just to my home WiFi rather than through the usb cable. I think i will have to play around with WLAN connections tonight.

If my car doesn't have it's own mobile data can I still connect my phone to the car WLAN or does the car need to connect to the phone WLAN hotspot?

The car will need to connect to a hotspot that your phone has created.  Otherwise when you connect to a wifi network in a hotel etc, they could use your 4g connection to get to the internet...

Thanks! I'm all up and running now. Might need to try out that app too.

Just noticed it stopped logging half way through my trip when I switched over to Android Auto to use waze and Spotify. That's pretty disappointing.

I was going to raise a similar question - I used it recently for the first time and it completely screwed up the logging (iPhone) because it seemed to stop part way through the journey. It recorded the whole distance and time correctly, but everything else had a gap in it, so the average calcs were nonsense (said I had done 90mpg in my 280!).

I don't really know why it stopped logging - other than carplay seems to disconnect for no reason at times...
