Rattling sound 1800-2000 rpm

Featured Replies

I have irritating rattling sound when engine is running ~1800-2000 rpm. It looks like to come somewhere from passenger side: inside door, seat ?? First it appeared when turning right, but now continiously when driving in that rpm area. Does anyone face this before?

I had this then noticed it stopped when the Wife got out .....

I had something similar but it was more of a high pitched whine.

I've had a couple of rattles come and go from around that area. One was from the electric seat buttons, one was from the A pillar, one was from the door card.

Interesting that you mention between 1800 and 2000rpm, I get it from the aircon system if it's turned off. Something to do with it depressurising. If your aircon is switched off, turn it on and see if it goes away.

They come and go.

Drivers door, dashboard between central airvents and touch-screen, passengers door, boot floor. Oh, and the storage cubby/armrest squeak.

It seems road surface and RPM play a role. And maybe temperature.

The central airvent squeaked and whistled once too.

Sometimes the car is completely quiet. It's lovely when it is so. In fact mostly it's quiet... then from nowhere it decides to sound like a car that's 5 years old or more.

Still really enjoy the car though...

I've had a rattle come and go, most noticeably from the driver's door, anywhere between 1600-2000 rpm which looks like it might be the umbrella in the door causing it.  On removing the umbrella the rattle started and came back soon after it was refitted (also simply removing and reinserting can make the rattle disappear for a few days).  I've now removed both umbrellas and I'll see over the next week or so whether the rattle has indeed gone away or whether it was just coincidence.

Interesting. I've had a bit of a rattle coming from the drivers door in the last week or so and thought it might be the plastic trim. Pushing it whilst driving hasn't seemed to make a difference. I hadn't thought of the umbrella....

I had this coming from the doors when ever the temperature outside was over 20 c, my local dealer refused to look at it. After 3 months I think I've found a cure , I bought some high density foam online, and cut it into some small blocks and wedged them into the door cubby holes , bye bye rattles ! You lose a little space but well worth it

Unfortunately it was just coincidence - I noticed the rattle in the driver's door again this afternoon without the umbrella there.  It looks to be temperature related as the last few days have been rattle free, but cooler.

I had same with temperature, more Celcius more rattling....But today I had time for dealer guarantee inspection / reparation. They spotted rattling sound to fuel lines under car. They did something

to lines and now after first 15 km looks like that  rattling is gone....
