Spotted the small shelf/tray under the dashboard yet, just in front of your right knee? Just near to the fusebox cover. Missed by many for ages, sometimes!

Stash my Mcdonalds coffee coupons in there along with my trusty asthma pump! Although stuff falls out of it when I go for small gaps on roundabouts and shoot off quickly!

yes...i get now the feeling my turbo will take me anywhere...i overtook today rather dangerously...showing off...but i do like the way it comes in...

must concentrate more..

roundabouts...they are getting a bit like a practice for the car equivalent to the red arrows display...

i have to eyeball drivers coming on from my left as they seem to think we have to kiss bumpers as we merge...:(

the other thing is lack of indicators going on and coming off...we all need to let everyone know what we are going to do.

i did road design and i can tell you that roundabout design is bloody dangerous nowadays...its the land they get to build them on...some dont have the correct geometry for entering and leaving..so sunny jims..stress not!!..practice the racing techniques of inside out cornering and so create their lane into a straight entry and exit...with no reduction in speed.

the design of a roundabout should be to slow incoming traffic and help traffic leaving the roundabout to speed up

there should also be a zone of merging, weaving, and exit

the design radii should cause traffic to slow down the accellerate out of the roundabout

we now do it the other way about...race in and brake like a 4 letter word so we dont hit someone who was on the roundabout before we decide to have some country lane racing fun.

cheers

I have seen my fair share of dodgy roundabouts, we have one which constantly causes accidents due to the speed people go round it (more like straight tbh) going back to topic though, I find the glovebox cooler quite handy if you have a choc bar and a bottle of drink you want to keep cool (not freezing) but cool compared to the outside temps its great!!! I think 75% of cars have this feature now.

Our local roundabout is inside out due to confusing lane markings

in order to speed through traffic on the A30 to help visitors.

in town we have two mini roundabout joined at the hip...more confusion

☹️

Thanks for the reply. I will leave the cooler vent open...we keep some snacks there on a long journey

Not wanting to start a new thread so I picked up on this one which is part of your tour

i have been checking the manual for a certain light switch and in the process see that there are a few variations on my level 3 which aren’t in the book.

the one i can’t find info about is a little lit switch on the drivers door just below the armrest

the symbol is a car and it’s lit red, I can push on it but the light stays on

the item is only about 2cm square....??

For the alarm,

to use if leaving animals in the car, putting on a transporter or ferry. Disable internal sensor, movement alarm.

Thanks

Should the light go off then?

Should the light go off then.. it stays on even as I push it....

May need this as we will be getting a dog and would leave it in the car when we go to the supermarket

Cheers

Even once you exit the car and lock it and set the alarm?

Someone that knows will be along.

Funny, cos I don't have this OR alarm but I thought they were for remote boot pop! Perhaps different button.

it goes off as the interior lights go off...with the door closed

it goes off if you put the key in the ignition switch...with the interior lights

the push feature doesnt seem to do anything

i thought it might have put the lights on with the ignition in when driving

with the engine running and doors shut it wont put the interior lights on....the push button operation doesnt have a switch feel to it...almost like an over ride if you hold it..

confused now

No ones mentioned the pointless bungee in the door pockets on the driver and passenger doors I guess its to stop large paper flapping around etc. Also the ticket holder on the windscreen is no longer due to it not making contact with the windscreen after it was replaced.

i had wondered what those elasticated things on the door were specifically for...they remind me of my first mini...how to open the doors..:D

my only thought is along the lines you suggest...to hang a map or book on for regular use??

i use the ticket holder for parking and it seems handy enough..so i guess my windscreen is the original

any thoughts on that illluminated door "switch" which i cant find a use for...maybe

see my thread on the strange situation with my boot light...not!

thanks again

cheers

If it was to disable the interior monitoring when the car is left with a dog in it, it would work like this, on leaving the car, after the key is out of the ignition, open the driver's door, press that button which should light up or change colour (never checked it or used it), then close the driver's door and lock up. When you unlock the car on your return, the interior monitoring is enabled again so you would only need to press it again if again leaving the car with for  instance a dog in it or a window slightly open.

I suppose one way to check for an alarm would be to open the drivers window, lock the car then stick your arms in and move them around a lot, if that car has an alarm with interior monitoring, doing that will set the alarm off.

I know that my daughter's late 2009 Ibiza does not have an alarm, our last two cars and our current cars both have but I've never ever checked that they work!  Something to consider doing maybe, if or when summer returns?

Edit:- so which manufacturer's version of a dog are you getting, that would be handy to have when your retired, but who takes it out when it is raining? I love dogs and dogs take advantage of me, but so far we have not committed to having one, I still remember feeling a bit bad leaving our dog as a kid when we went on holiday, he certainly did not look very happy!

I take it you realise that there is also a top glovebox compartment on top of the lower glovebox compartment, accessed by pulling the cover up?

Some models (iirc level 3) have a pull out storage bin under the passenger seat.

yes that is a handy upper box..i keep wipes in it and mints for the journey...

the lower one has our cd's and other items

the manual i keep in the a rear seat pouch...

there is lots of storage around the cabin but nothing for underseat storage

the passenger seat has a plastic sort of deep cover where i think the storage bay would be...i assume it is an extra

the rest of the level 3 extras are quite pleasant and i am glad i got this version of the 1.4Tdi..quite by chance...no knowledge of skoda's features till i bought this...even though my daughter and her husband run 1.9 diesel fabias and convinced me to buy a skoda...

yes..i know about leaving dogs...

we had two jack russels, mother and daughter and they werent so chuffed being left in kennels...they were so happy when we returned we realised how much they missed us....that was over 30 years ago

we have done our globe trotting now sans dogs and are just tailing off taking early spring annual visits to malta for three weeks

our plans are to travel and holiday in the uk and take a dog with us....i am 75 and mrs geof is 70 so we wont be going far really..there are loads of bb which take dogs and failing that its tenby again in the caravan we use when there..

its straight jack russel again...we will get a puppy and hopefully a bitch...we miss our two but think one will be enough

Is Moley reading the Fabia owner's manual? Checking out the interior alarm info no doubt.....

There were small cubby hole type underseat cupboards available as extras for under a tenner a piece. Think they crept up since then, though. Enough space for say, sat nav or the like, sweeties, small first aid kit, etc. You need to almost remove the seats to fit them though and also purchase the necessary screws to fix the boxes that just replace the blank cover fitted as standard. (Worth it in the long run).

The elastic straps are just to retain items such as atlas's (Remember them)? Or other objects so as to prevent them sliding or falling out. There is also a bottle holder on the frontal edge of each of the pockets, supposedly able to hold a large bottle of pop. The ;itt;e ticket clips are available for only a few quid from the main dealer.

thanks

keep the info coming...

got the cigar lighter thing sorted now...and will get a phone charger adaptor as well...

the screen clip is a real money saver...i think i told you my daughters car park slip went down the screen vent on her skoda...its a 2001 i think 1.9 diesel...anyway she got back to a love letter from the warden. and a chance to cough up £60

you are right...

in my manual which i am now reading more avidly ...there is one page showing that switch...for opening the boot and over a few pages shows it...perhaps on a different door for cancelling the motion sensor..which i now know about

i think the red lighting is just for illumination in the dark...there is no obvious difference in the style of the switch or rather function button

good call

cheers
