17" Tires Choice Query

Featured Replies

Hello Guys,

I recently bought 17" wheels and I am having difficulty to choose tires. Everywhere I see even in the manual it says 225/45/17 94 W.

The problem here is that I love Continental for summer tires but the only choice they have here locally in Bulgaria is the 91 Y option. From your experience is this load index low for this car or it is ok. The 94 W variants that I have are from manufacturers that I don't really like. Please give your opinion on what tires you are driving and what is your experience with it.

Appreciate it !

Regards,

Vasil Torbov

What year is the car, and what engine?

2014 Superb FL 2.0 Diesel 125kw is the model.

Ok, the type-approved 17" option for that is 225/45/R17 91V on 7J or 7.5J x 17 rims, ET49. Snow chains are not permitted with that combination.

There is an alternative listed for 205/50/R17 93V on 6Jx17 rims, ET45, which permits snow chains - I'm guessing this is the recommended winter fitment.

Thanks a lot! Maybe i am looking at a wrong place. Can you tell me where you checked that so I don't ask stupid questions for future. :)

That information is taken from Skoda's service manual which I purchased from erWin.
