DAB

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a 2014 Supeb, that is fitted with a DAB Columbus head unit.

When listening to DAB, the signal is forever cutting out. Is this due to a poor Ariel, is there and Ariel upgrade that I can purchase?

My previous car had an after market DAB head unit, with an Ariel stuck to the inside screen, and the reception was perfect.

Regards,

Kevin.

What aerial do you use at the moment?

The factory fitted (shark fin) one.

I don't think you have a DAB aerial in the shark fin. I think the aerial is either in the side window or the rear screen.

I too have a DAB, an upgrade supplied by Rustynuts, clever man and a great piece of kit, this uses an additional Aerial at the rear of the shark fin and I can confirm that DAB is patchy, indeed it is always poor in built up area's and even certain open field areas along the West Oxford A40 there are a few spots that are dead due to the overgrown foliage. Although DAB has more stations with greater choice the whole digital experience is not as good as FM but hey that's progress.

Hello,

I have looked and my DAB Ariel is in the rear windscreen. I would be very interested in the upgrade that Rustynuts supplies.

Please tell me more.

Regards

Kevin

I upgraded his non DAB Columbus to a DAB unit in a part exchange. I also supplied a new roof antenna as his car didn't have DAB originally, that's all.

When I was running an Amundsen with DAB, there was a "fall back" setting, so if it lost the DAB signal, it used the FM one instead. This worked quite well, until you use a station that's not on FM as well.
