Buying from a broker

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I've stumbled across this site in my quest to buy a Fabia vRS. Took one for a test drive and was hooked, now I am considering how to buy one. The dealer I had a drive at said that he would now be looking at delivery in late Jan at the earliest, and that it would be difficult to shift much below list price. However I have noticed several of these national brokers, eg. drivethedeal, buymynewcar, buyyourskoda, all offering a vRS at around 11300 delivered to your door, they just essentially put you in touch with a uk dealer somewhere whom they have an agreement with. On their sites they all quote a 4 week delivery time. What I'm wondering is whether anyone here has any experience of buying a car this way, and whether you think their 4 week delivery times are hopelessly optimistic? DOes anyone have a particular company they could recommend?

Any feedback appreciated

Welcome to Briskoda, dunkx!

Not really a recommendation, but I bought my L&K through Showroom4cars at what I think was a very good price. They supply from UK dealers (mine was Gordon Lamb in Chesterfield). In fact, my car was delivered to the dealers ahead of schedule (IIRC it was 3 weeks lead time in the end). Couldn't fault the supplying dealer but Showroom4cars could be a little vague at times.

Cheers, and good luck with your hunt!

Thanks for your comments. Showroom4cars does not seem to be doing Skoda anymore though...

SilveRS, I noticed you are in Manchester, which dealer did you go to? The one I visited said there was no way they could match the broker price when I mentioned it to them.

Claybank was the Dealer; Henry was the sales guy who I dealt with.

I had to present him with the deal on paper, so I did and left the ball in his court. About a week later he got in touch saying rather than loose a customer his boss said he could match the deal.

It was 18 months ago mind when the vRS was less well known.

If they say they can't match it...it's bull. Just walk away and find another dealer. I also did some research on finance and managed to pin him down on that as well.

I used ukcarbroker.co.uk. Their only involvement from my point of view was setting the price and passing on my order to a dealer. I notice they don't do Skoda any more. It's a sound enough way of buying if you don't have very good haggling skills.

I have used this company in the past

http://www.carfile.net/

found them cheaper when the local skoda dealer wouldn't budge.

I used Tins as my broker for my Octavia vRS.

They hunted around for the best UK price which ended up @

Thanks for the suggestions. It seems the old 'Furbies' are in short supply at the moment whoever you ask - Carfile reckoned 4-5 months before they could get one discounted at all!

Guess I was lucky then, I went to the Rugby dealer to test drive a car as the coventry one I normally use couldnt get a demo car, Rugby had the demo and a Red standard one, I ordered the car 2 days after the testdrive on the knowledge that A I wanted it quick, and B it had to be silver with all the bits I wanted on it. Turns out I couldnt get all the bits I wanted (heated seats/sunroof) but he swapped the red one he had for a silver one at another dealer and I got my car 2 weeks later (1st november). Cant say a bad thing for the Rugby office, spoke to Gavin for the record. Give em a call see if they can get one? Worth a try....

There are some 'used' vRS shown on the Skoda website. However, they are up for sale at list price (

Mine had 0.2miles when I picked it up so I know it wasnt one of them ;)
