Thank f*** I kept the yeti

Featured Replies

Well I could have got rid of the yeti to avoid the fix fail problem, gone out and bought the porche diesel and guess what ,out of the fire and into the frying pan, another VAG FIX/fail situation/recall on a £40,000 plus car, perhaps it's not so bad a situation keeping the yeti after all.staying non fix.

Looks like Mercedes have started a similar "fix" on a lot of their cars.

I'm experiencing a weird issue.

My 2010 Yeti Elegance battery was getting a little low the other day, and just about had enough 'juice' to get started.

Yesterday 29 July 2017 there was not enough juice to start it and I ended up flattening the battery.

Had to make my way into work using alternative transportation, and today called out the AA who diagnosed that the battery was fine once he got it up and running, but something in the system was having a drain on the battery

He (the AA man)  attached a testing device over a cable and we could both see the rampage continuously fluctuating.

I had my EAN recall software installed on 5th July, and I suspect that may be causing the issue and it's only just beginning to manifest itself.

Can't attach the video as it's too large to upload but I'm happy to email it to anyone who is interested.

Read somewhere else that it is very risky to run a dsg with a failing or nearly flat battery.

Whilst the engine can start ok still, it can result in voltage surges which can damage the electronics in the gearbox and lead to expensive repairs needed.

A 2010 car is probably at the point where the battery is on its way out.

The battery in my wifes 7 year old Fabia was still starting the car but a check showed one nearly dead cell and it was working on about 10 volts.
