Can you tell if a clutch has been replaced?

Featured Replies

Trying to work out if my car has ever had its clutch/DMF replaced. Its done 123k miles and clutch pedal feels 'heavy' and bite point is very close to floor. Feel is very progressive and there are no noises from the release bearing that I can hear or feel. It doesn't slip at all and DMF doesn't make any noises.

I know this is a stupid question really but I wanted to see how likely it would be for a clutch to last this mileage without showing any signs of wear.

Im planning to get a stage 1 remap done but am concerned about how the clutch will hold up. Remapper has told me I would be best going for an economy remap which would put very little extra strain on the clutch but Im wondering if a 'normal' remap might be possible considering the clutch seems to be ok.

My old Fabia had 120k and was still o. The standard clutch and dmf. However a remap may destroy it but its all down to the map and how you drive.

It does sound as if it's already been done, and, yes, it's a stupid question. Roll the dice, you're a grownup now

Hi, i was always wondering if the clutch has ever been replaced in my 138k mile VRS, the pedal feels heavyish and the bite point is very low to the floor. A good three weeks back i got the car remapped to 166bhp and over 300lb/ft of torque and i still cant feel any clutch slip.

Thats interesting, just had mine remapped to around 170bhp and 360nm torque and it is fine no clutch slip at all.
