MAF sensor and remap

Featured Replies

Was wondering if a remap would mean my maf sensor is disabled. Only asking because i only replaced the maf recently and just had the car remapped so wanted to see if I could return the sensor if its not needed.

If its dependant on the particular map then I guess i should ask the guy who did it but wanted to see on here first

A straight farward map will not remove the maf sensor no, it will still be needed on your vehicle.

If the MAF is missing, the car will generally run worse as it'll run from hard-coded worst case scenario values. In other words, it'll assume it has too little air coming in, or too much, I'm not 100% sure. A remap just shifts the table of values it uses and so you'd still notice the same 'sad' engine from a lack of working MAF
