  • Thread cleaned again. did some this am but rushing for a meeting.   please keep the bickering to a minimum.   if you don’t agree that’s fine, but as per the guidelines, please be nice

  • Noticed i didn't update this after street weekend. Was eventful.   On the cover   Made it to pod and in line first day was just to get a number on the board don't want to break

  • This is going to be a long post!   Finally got to splitting the 5 Speed box to finally see what the damage was and there was nothing left of 4th gear

So looking over some of the data here's 3 of the fastest runs the car has did at different places

15.5 when the 1.6 was at the pod a couple of years back blue line

14.2 this time at pod with the 2.0 red

13.9 at crail orange

The 1.6 is faster in first and at the start of second till around 40mph which is expected with less torque therefore more traction until the 2.0 gets itself sorted and takes off.

You can also see that the orange on the speed over time graph that the crail was the lowest due to the wheelspin as well even with slipping the clutch alot at pod so the clutch would grip.

What was interesting i thought was that at 70mph/ 300ft out the crail run then becomes faster than the pod run. Ran through all the datalogs from both runs that i took on vcds, pod intake temp was only 1 degree higher, boost on both was 2.3 bar. Crail did have a slightly high max rpm at 5548rpm compared to 5297rpm at pod which i would put down to it bouncing off the limiter spining the wheels. Only thing i can narrow it down to was the head wind at pod which was 20mph if i remember looking at the weather app. Wonder if it could have been a good 13 second run.

Thought it was interesting to share.

seeing what all these 100-200 runs are like in mexico, 2 up boot full of stuff including the clutch and a full tank, backfire on the gearchange which was interesting and slight air at 160.....

So since i'm off work and bored of things to do i thought i'd weigh the car to see how much difference the 2 litre, turbo, manifold, meth etc would add to the weight of the car.

how much fuel was in it

50590431633_579226644e_b.jpg

Last time i weighed the 1.6 with the full interior and just over half a tank it weighed in at  1268kg

50591142401_242e65772f_b.jpg

2.0 weighed in at 1255kg so 13kg lighter than the 1.6 was interestingly more of the front weight now on the right rather than the left

Also went out with a friend that has a modified 1.8 polo gti to see how it compared. All done in mexico

Just wondering, since you swapped to a 2 litre did you manage to retain stuff like air con or is that all removed for the sake of weight reduction?

Another set of Pilot Sport 4's on the front :dull: thats the third set in less than 2 years, rears are still just over 5mm on them. Probably explains the tractions issues.

Wouldn’t suit it I don’t think. Like to try and keep with the same platform :D

With a car as modded as yours I say Go big or go home!

I love the vented bonnet on this. It's only the Mk2 Fabia's that suit the vented bonnets IMO, I think it's because of the association with the S2000 Rally cars. In contrast the Mk1 Fabia's with the £9.99 ebay vents jigsawed into them look vile!!

And also it’s a genuine bonnet too 😂

little bit of data

Had a few comments not really from here but other places that open filters aren't good all they do is draw in heat so did a little test today and this was over 16 miles, lowest difference 1 degrees highest difference 3 degrees. Shows you want a good intercooler set up can do.

Also we are back to that time of year again

Damn, those tires were shot. Did you also align the car again? Could help a bit so it would wear more evenly :)
